I was told once in elementary school that I should have gone as a witch for halloween because my nose is so “pointy”. I felt really self conscious about it after that, which sounds silly now, but words can and do hurt.

Productions of all kinds are important, including student-led, youth, and community theatre productions.

Want to be in a musical? Audition! Want to start up dance classes? Figure out where! Want to own the most beautiful garden ever? Get a book from the library about gardening and get to work! I do not care how old you are - you can start anything new that you want to. 

One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as an actor was interning for a children’s theatre. I was 15-years-old at the time and just wanted something to do over the summer - so I applied.

One thing about me is that I’ve always dreamed really big. I’ve never thought about what would happen if I didn’t get where I wanted to - I just always knew I was going to go for it and figure it out later. I’ve always had that mentality.

As actors, sometimes we can take our art too far. It can become too real and make us feel too much. I am no expert on this, nor do I have any mental or physical health credentials.

Confidence is often fleeting, but it doesn't have to be.

It’s no secret that theatre is an innately superstitious art form. Most people I know have specific pre-show rituals that make them feel like they can ensure a good upcoming performance.

One of the most wonderful parts about being a part of the theatre community is meeting the incredible people involved in it including incredible exchange students who I have been lucky enough to call my friends.

Yup, you read that right! I have other passions other than theatre - let's talk about it! Personally, I think it’s so important to have things you enjoy other than theatre. Enjoying other things does not make someone a bad performer in any sense.
