On 2/21, Nichelle Lewis made her NYC solo cabaret debut at 54 Below to an enthusiastic crowd of friends, family, and fans. Fresh off her acclaimed performances as Sarah in Ragtime and Dorothy in The Wiz on Broadway, she created a lovely evening with songs across the musical spectrum.
On 10/17 and 1, The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn was taken over by Nightfall: Time Flies, a sprawling and immersive experience especially perfect for October. Death of Classical and Rooftop Films made great use of Green-Wood’s acreage. Performances, music, and multimedia pieces were scattered around the winding cemetery paths.
Death of Classical is known for curating classical music and opera performances throughout NYC’s prettiest crypts and cemeteries. This performance of Beethoven’s Final String Quartet was a part of DoC’s Angel’s Share concert series, which took place at Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery from Thursday through Saturday night.
Sometimes macabre, sometimes whimsical, always beautiful, Death of Classical presents some of the most unique classical music and opera experiences in New York City. Their immersive May 24th event continued their tradition of weird yet lovely death-based musical fare straight out of crypts, graveyards, and catacombs.
