Joyce Phillips

She was born in Queens but now lives in the western Philadelphia suburbs. Under the Byline "JP Phillips," she has written many news and community interest stories over the past nine years for southeastern Pennsylvania publications.  She is looking forward to writing about Broadway and the entertainment industry.

She studied music in college and dabbles in music arranging and vocal harmonies.  Her love of Broadway musicals was passed down through her father, who was a huge Stephen Sondheim fan.  Her favorite shows include the original production of Sweeny Todd,  Maybe Happy Ending, and Hadestown.  Magical theatre moments that she'll never forget include the first fear-inducing sound of the factory steam whistle (original production of Sweeny Todd), Christine and the Opera Ghost going down to the Phantom's lair for the first time (Phantom of the Opera), the We'll Raise a Glass Together dance routine (Grand Hotel), the All I've Ever Known love dance sequence between Orpheus and Euridice (Hadestown, original cast), and the firefly sequence (Maybe Happy Ending).
