(12/8/2021) - The Ludlow House presented Songs of the Serpent: Introducing songs from Medusa, a New Pop Opera on October 27th. The evening was directed by Rachel Klein and music directed by Dan Pardo featuring songs written by composer David James Boyd and lyricist Erik Ransom, with creative production by Chad Kessler.

(12/7/2021) - Last night, Tedd Firth’s musical gifts were on FULL DISPLAY! After a long period of not performing, due to the pandemic, he reunited his Tedd Firth Trio, playing to a packed SRO room, at the BIRDLAND THEATRE.  In a space where Tedd has often played for others, the master pianist/arranger played a solo gig.

(12/1/2021) - On Monday, November 29, Robbie Rozelle made his Birdland debut with “The Next One,” a carefully curated evening of chaos celebrating his 45th birthday. “The Next One” was created for every person who has ever told the comedian “I can’t make it, but I’ll be at the next one.” Musical direction and arrangements by Yasuhiko Fukuoka, with Wes Bourland on bass, Mike Lunroe on drums, Johnny Wise on violin, Samuel Quiggins on cello, and David Ashton on reeds.

(12/1/2021) - It’s Holiday time in New York City and theater and cabaret are returning. However, one of the legendary venues and it’s main attraction for the Christmas/New Years entertainment tradition is missing. Cafe Carlyle and Steve Tyrell. Since 2005 Steve has been a fixture in the Cafe at this time of year but Cafe Carlyle has not re-opened yet so Steve made a brief one night stop over during his current tour to entertain his legions of fans at SONY Hall last night.

(11/21/2021) - Sometimes advertising and catch phrases become outdated and are not reflective of the current environment.  Not so with “The Jazz Corner Of The World”.  Birdland is still the rightful possessor of that Charlie Parker quote, and one need have only been in the audience Saturday night to hear Jazz great Alan Broadbent and his trio to understand the legitimacy of that nickname.

(11/11/2021) - Peter Cincotti owned the piano in Birdland last night and it wasn’t because his name was temporarily affixed to the legendary 7 foot Yamaha for his engagement.   Imagine Billy Joel, Harry Connick Jr., Lang Lang, Manilow, and Jerry Lee Lewis on the same piano bench and it will give you an idea of the kind of exciting music at a Cincotti performance.
