(1/22/2020) - Capital Stage presents the NNPN Rolling World Premiere of ALABASTER by Audrey Cefaly. This marks the largest Rolling World Premiere in NNPN's history with 11 productions being produced in the 2019/20 Season Nation-wide. In her Capital Stage debut, Kristin Clippard will direct this 2018 David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize Winner. The cast will feature Stephanie Altholz, Janet Motenko, and new to Capital Stage: Amy Kelly and Susan Maris. Performances will run from January 22 through February 23, 2020, with a Press Opening on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 8:00 pm.

(10/16/2019) - Capital Stage presents the Sacramento premiere of THE HUMANS by Stephen Karam. Michael Stevenson, at the helm of his fifth season as Capital Stage Producing Artistic Director, will direct this Tony Award winner for Best Play. The cast will feature local favorites Jamie Jones, Matt K. Miller, and Kristine David. Performances will run from October 16 through November 17, 2019, with a Press Opening on Saturday , October 19, 2019 at 8:00 pm.

(9/17/2019) - Capital Stage launches its 15th Anniversary Season with the critically acclaimed and multiple award winning play Between Riverside And Crazy by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Judith Moreland, director of An Octoroon , returns to direct local favorite James Wheatley as “Pops” in his Capital Stage main stage debut. The Sacramento Premiere of Between Riverside And Crazy will preview Aug. 28th, 29th, and 30th. A Press Opening will be on Sat. Aug. 31st at 8:00 pm. Performances will run through Sep. 29th. Tickets are available now.

(8/20/2019) - The final show in the 2019 season is the Broadway At Music Circus premiere of In The Heights, a multiple Tony Award-winning Best Musical from Lin-Manual Miranda, creator of the smash hit Hamilton, running Tuesday, Aug. 20 through Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion in Sacramento.

(6/8/2019) - The story of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" has gone through many incarnations over the years: An American fairytale, a Broadway extravaganza, one of the first technicolor MGM movie musicals, and the 1989 West End holiday musical. Now, complete with dancing Munchkins and flying monkeys, Sierra Rep is delighted to present The Wizard of Oz this summer at the Historic Fallon House Theatre in Columbia State Park. The book is by John Kane, music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg. It has additional background music by Herbert Stothart. It is based on the novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum and the 1939 film version written by Noel Langley, Florence Ryerson and Edgar Allan Woolf. This production will be co-directed by Scott Viets and Jerry Lee, who previously teamed up for Holiday Jukebox and The Robber Bridegroom. The production sponsor is DSN Outdoor.

(6/7/2019) - As part of an ambitious inaugural year in The Sofia, B Street Theatre raised the bar in its commitment to new works by presenting the first annual New Comedies Festival. Four plays were selected from an entry pool of 70, one of which would receive a slot in the 2019 Mainstage season. Now, last year's selection, The Forever Question by James Christy, is poised for its debut.
