SJMB Presents: Viva l'Italia! at Hammer Theatre Center

Join the San Jose Metropolitan Band on Sunday, March 29th at 3:00pm at the Hammer Theatre for our spring concert, Viva l’Italia! We will be presenting an exciting preview of the program that we will be performing during our June concert tour of Italy. Led by our director Ken Nakamoto, we will be featuring an eclectic program of concert band music from the early 1900s through the 2010s. We will feature the world premiere of The Power of Two, by local up-and-comping composer Vivian Le. In a nod to our host country, we will be playing The Pines of the Appian Way, from Ottorino Respighi’s tone poem Pines of Rome, and the Italian National Anthem. From this side of the Atlantic, we will feature the concert band classic Chester (William Schuman), West Highlands Sojourn (Robert Sheldon), Chasing Sunlight (Cait Nishimura), and the iconic The Stars and Stripes Forever (John Philip Sousa). We will round out the program with other SJMB favorites.

The concert is on Sunday, March 29th at 3:00pm at the Hammer Theatre, which is located at Paseo de San Antonio and Third Street in downtown San Jose. The Hammer is a great concert venue with a parking lot right next to the theater and easy light rail access. You don’t want to miss this unique concert!

Come early and explore downtown San Jose, which is home to the San Jose Museum of Art, the dynamic South of First Area (SOFA), and San Pedro Square. After the concert, plan to finish the day at one of the many excellent downtown restaurants near the theater.

Advanced ticket reservations are strongly recommended to expedite entry into the concert. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $10 for students and free for children.
