17 Border Crossings in Broadway 17 BORDER CROSSINGS
Jackie Liebergott Black Box/Paramount Center
4/19-4/29/2017
The history of passports, smuggling Kentucky Fried Chicken into other countries, and the peculiarities of airline security — it’s all covered in this miraculous, one-man saga that unpacks how the mundane details that govern global travel become the actual journey. 17 Border Crossings is a surreal sojourn that transports us to very real places: Hungary, Serbia, Morocco, Colombia, Holland and Mexico, to name a few. In the deft, mischievous manner of the trickster, Phillips manages to float huge questions that surround the fraught migrations of our era. With all the childlike curiosity and adult skepticism of monologist Spalding Gray, and the theatrical wizardry of a Robert Lepage, Thaddeus Phillips takes audiences by the hand on a trip around the world and shows us that when we cross the imaginary lines that divide up the world, the real borders come to light. 4/19 - 7:30PM 4/20 - 7:30PM 4/21 - 8PM 4/22 - 2PM 4/22 - 8PM 4/23 - 2PM 4/26 - 7:30PM 4/27 - 7:30PM 4/28 - 8PM 4/29 - 8PM

Matt & Ben in Broadway MATT & BEN
The Rockwell
4/28-4/29/2017
Matt & Ben, a play by Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers, answers the question every Bostonian has asked themselves at least once; "How did Matt Damon and Ben Affleck write the screenplay for Good Will Hunting?" Answer: It fell from the sky, of course. Okay, in reality the screenplay might not have appeared right out of thin air, but the play Matt & Ben takes the audience through a fantastic journey of what if it did. Matt and Ben, respectively played by Lauren Robinson and Libby Schap, spend one long Saturday in Somerville fighting, reminiscing, and hallucinating a lot more than normal when confronted with the screenplay they already know will change their lives. Produced by the LL Production Company, Matt & Ben is one wicked funny show that will make an audience feel like they're right in the same living room as these young Boston boys (played by girls), and the first play put up at the Riot Theater. DATES: FRIDAY, APRIL 28 AT 7:00 P.M. SATURDAY, APRIL 29 AT 7:00 P.M. SHOWN AT THE ROCKWELL THEATRE (FORMALLY DAVIS SQ THEATRE) IN SOMERVILLE, MA THIS VENUE IS 21+ AUDIENCE MEMBERS MUST BRING PROPER ID Produced by the LL Production Company Starring: Lauren Robinson and Libby Schap

Brian Calhoon’s Marimba Cabaret in Broadway BRIAN CALHOON’S MARIMBA CABARET
Club Cafe
3/16-5/4/2017
When a classically-trained percussionist with a secret love of musical theater --and killer taste in shoes-- puts on a show, Brian Calhoon’s Marimba Cabaret brings together years of training and a lifetime of passion in an evening of theater tunes, art song, and pop covers performed on marimba, vibraphone, and voice. With covers ranging from Leonard Bernstein to Florence + The Machine, Jason Robert Brown to Sondheim, Paul McCartney to Outkast, Rufus Wainwright to Imogen Heap, with a little Whitney Houston mash-up for good measure, there’s something for everyone in this eclectic evening of songs. The series of three shows each has a different theme with special guest artists: The March 16 cabaret will focus on the theme of “love and relationships” and includes special guest and arranger Sharon Chen on marimba. The April 13 concert will be focused on “coming out and being true to yourself” with guest artist and composer Audrey Harrer on harp and voice. The May 4 concert will focus on “mental health” and features guest three vocalists: Sonja Tengblad, Sophie Michaux, and Christina English, who are known nationally as outstanding soloists and as part of the Lorelei Ensemble.
