DEGREES OFFERED
Bachelor of Arts in Dance

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance

In the School of Dance at UNCG, we believe that the field of dance needs many different kinds of professionals with diverse strengths and points of view. We facilitate students' journeys through our degree programs with common concerns: the lived experience of dancing, creative and critical engagement with performance and choreography as expressive mediums, and the development of the individual in relationship to community. We strive to develop in our students the imaginative, critical, and technical skills essential to the creative process, scholarly inquiry, and professional engagement in the field of dance. Our undergraduate degree programs combine a liberal arts curriculum with professional preparation for further study or for a variety of dance careers. We offer a BA and a BFA in dance, both with the option to add a teaching license. We mentor our graduate students through MA and MFA curricula, which blend artistry, teaching, and scholarship.

Notable Alumni Include: Christal Brown, Jan Van Dyke, Ann Law, Dr. Doug Risner, Tiffany Rhynard, Kathleen Kelley, Sue Stinson.

They performed their finale number, at the end of which the two actresses who play the lesbian couple at the center of the show kissed. It was a first for the parade and a moment that was both celebrated and scorned on social media. For Raleigh native Beth Leavel, who is starring in THE PROM, that finale moment celebrates what this show is all about.
