'night, Mother in Broadway 'NIGHT, MOTHER

9/14-9/23/2017
Jessie and her mother live a small house on an isolated country road. Jessie's loveless marriage ended in divorce, her absent son is a petty thief and ne'er-do-well, and, in general, her life is stale and unprofitable. As the play begins Jessie calmly announces that she intends to kill herself that same night. As Jessie sets about tidying the house and making lists of things to be looked after, her sense of desperate helplessness begins to build. In the end, Jessie quietly closes and locks her bedroom door and the play ends in one stunning and deeply disturbing moment—a moment never to be forgotten by those who have witnessed, and come to understand, her plight. Cast: Jessie Cates Allison Deratzian Thelma Cates Susan Blair Director: David Deratzian  Winner of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award Nominee for Best Play.

Joan Crawford In Her Own Words in Broadway JOAN CRAWFORD IN HER OWN WORDS
Tabu Lounge
9/7-9/24/2017
The much-maligned star of over 80 Hollywood films returns to defend herself in the 2017 Philadelphia Fringe Festival! Joan Crawford in Her Own Words is an original show crafted from the star's interviews over the many decades of her legendary career. In a comic blend of sugary light and caustic frankness, Philadelphia actor Eric Singel's portrayal of the willful star invites the cabaret audience into her living room for an evening of cocktails and conversation as she prepares for what will turn out to be her final public appearance at the Rainbow Room. Fortified with a bit of 100-proof vodka, Miss Crawford may even touch on some sore subjects. What brings a wide-eyed Texas girl to the "town without pity"? How many failed marriages and troubled children does it take to win an Oscar — or the title "box office poison"? Fasten your seat belts because you have not seen bumpy until now. Eric Singel is best known to Fringe-goers from ten years of performances with the WaitStaff sketch comedy troupe. Joan Crawford In Her Own Words premiered in Philadelphia in the 1990’s. Revamped and ready for the new century, Singel gives a performance The Mainliner Press Focus pronounced "a tour de force," Philadelphia Gay News proclaimed "fascinating to watch, " and The Welcomat (Philadelphia Weekly) dubbed “comedy/drama at its flooziest."

Seventy IV Seconds... to judgement in Broadway SEVENTY IV SECONDS... TO JUDGEMENT
The Arden Theatre Company
9/6-9/24/2017
What is “Justifiable Homicide”? What roles do paranoia, race, and fear play in a split decision to kill? Should social class, personal histories, or individual assumptions factor into a months’ long evaluation of justice? Is there enough space for the application of law in a killing which takes seconds to commit? Who are we, who decide? How are we to decide? In the next installment of his justice series, “Seventy IV Seconds… to judgment”, Kash Goins introduces us to a jury of 6 who have been deadlocked for over a week. In an attempt to uncover the truth buried in the facts as presented in the case, the youngest juror who is not much different than a central figure in the killing, offers a unique tactic. An exercise purposed to move the jury beyond feelings which are buried beneath the cover of what they’ve come to accept as their personal truths. To be heard. To listen. To process the law as instructed.
