THE SUNSHINE BOYS
Theatre 29!
1/15-2/13/2016
Kings of comedy, Willie Clark and Al Lewis, aka The Sunshine Boys, haven’t spoken to each other in years. Once a fantastic duo, the two have since been locked in a feud for years. When CBS call for the vaudevillian greats to be re-united for a nostalgic History of Comedy, past grudges resurface as they take center stage once more. Ageing ailments aside, can this legendary double-act overcome their differences for one last show? Old rivalry and vintage hilarity abound in this classic comedy of showbiz and friendship.

DIRTY DANCING
Pantages Theatre
2/2-2/21/2016
Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heart-pounding music, passionate romance and sensational dancing. Seen by millions across the globe, this timeless love story features the hit songs "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby," "Do You Love Me?" and the heart-stopping "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life." London's Sunday Express says "This crowd-pleasing stage adaptation hits the jackpot!" It's the summer of 1963, and 17 year-old Frances "Baby" Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing. On vacation in New York's Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents, Baby shows little interest in the resort activities, and instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles upon the staff quarters when an all-night dance party is in full swing. Mesmerized by the raunchy dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby can't wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle the resort dance instructor. Baby's life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end as Johnny's leading lady both on-stage and off with breathtaking consequences.

MARY'S WEDDING
MALIBU PLAYHOUSE
1/28-2/21/2016
“One of those theatre experiences to which you can wholly give yourself over with no fear of disappointment. If this production had been a film I would have watched the whole thing all over again the minute it ended.” – New York Theatre Wire. “Mary’s Wedding” premiers January 28 – February 21, 2016 at the Malibu Playhouse, officially launching their 2016 season under the helm of Jeremy Skidmore, world-renowned theater director and formerly Artistic Director of Theater Alliance in Washington, D.C. Written by Stephen Massicotte and performed by Hallie Cooper and Mark Jude Sullivan, “MARY’S WEDDING,” produced and directed by Skidmore, is a brilliant, romantic and historical dream play. When Mary and Charlie unexpectedly find one another sheltered in a barn during a thunderstorm, a tentative love is born. But the year is 1914, and their first flirtations ignite right as World War I begins to engulf the western world. Nevertheless, their bond begins to fracture the hard rules of time as their story unfolds across vast prairies, on the decks of silently sailing war ships, and entwined with the chaotic trenches of Europe's no-man's land. Mary’s Wedding captures an extraordinary moment of innocence and courage with rare sensitivity and beauty.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this heartfelt romp explores the journey we take throughout life and the essential questions we explore when we journey into middle age. In an intriguing blend of absurdity and lyricism, this vignette-style drama tells the story of how multiple couples navigate marriage, commitment, and the challenges of contemporary life while exploring the beauties and discontents of love in adulthood. The farcical and witty scenarios presented will entice viewers to consider their lives and who they still wish to become.

NEVA
Theatre of NOTE
1/22-2/21/2016
NEVA Written by Guillermo Calderón Translated by Andrea Thome “History passes like a ghost—there is going to be a revolution.” Directed by Diana Wyenn Starring Anna Safar, Claudia de Vasco & Daniel Jimenez “Neva reminds us just how powerful a work of art can be.” (Magazine Artez) In a dimly lit rehearsal room in St. Petersburg during the winter of 1905, Anton Chekhov’s widow, the actress Olga Knipper, along with two other actors, await the rest of the cast and their director while unseen striking workers are being gunned down in the streets by the tsarist regime. A politically charged, haunting interrogation of theater and the revolutionary impulse, Neva savagely examines the relationship between theater and historical context in this ominous and tightly crafted ensemble work that allows a palpable terror to creep through the theater walls. First seen by Los Angeles audiences in 2011 at REDCAT, Neva remains one of the theater’s most talked about productions with critics proclaiming, “Neva has a dreamlike power” (LA Times) and “contains the raw incendiary power of a bomb tossed into the art-loving crowd” (LA Weekly). This January, Shock Pulse brings together a team of top notch theater artists to bring this resonate drama to life once more. In the wake of recent tragedies and political unrest here in the United States, such as the San Bernardino shooting, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the People’s Climate March, this beautifully woven piece of theater is more resonant than ever as one of its characters cries out, “People are dying of hunger in the streets and you want to put on a play?” The cast of Neva features Shock Pulse ensemble members Daniel Jimenez as Aleko, Claudia de Vasco as Olga, and Anna Safar as Masha. The production team for Neva includes: Diana Wyenn (director), Joey Guthman (scenic and lighting design), Megan Turek (costume design), and Mark Holden (sound design). Additional credits include: Aaron Saldaña (stage manager), Karen Cooke (associate producer), and Allison Dillard (assistant costume design). Shock Pulse is a new theatre production company in Los Angeles committed to producing independent productions of new and contemporary pieces that challenge, reimagine, provoke, and deconstruct through multi-disciplinary, untraditional, and/or company developed works.
