With a career having spanned over 50 years, Peter Simon has covered an incredible range of subjects from 1960s free love and protest to the greatest names in rock 'n' roll, reggae and pop music, Major League Baseball, and so much more. Now, with his newest book "MARTHA'S VINEYARD - To Everything There Is A Season" he captures the scenic beauty of his home on the beloved island Martha's Vineyard.

"Martha's Vineyard" is Peter's magnum opus about the Island he loves. A major piece of work which is 276 pages long, 11 X 14 inches, it includes more than 700 photographs, and weighs over 6 pounds!

Pulitzer prize winning author Geraldine Brooks contributes the text, which covers the four seasons and introduces each section. 20% of the book's revenue will be contributed to Martha's Vineyard Community Services.

The book is defined by each season, with both large reproductions of some of Peter's iconic imagery, as well as smaller sections (or "panoplies" as he likes to describe them) about certain specific events or aspects of Vineyard life that he has covered through the years. All told, this book will become a legacy for both Peter and his beloved Island.

A must have for any Vineyard lover whose coffee table can withstand the weight!

Over his expansive career, Peter (Brother of iconic singer/songwriter Carly Simon) has captured everything from stunning portraits of people in the everyday to iconic portraits of the most celebrated personalities of our time.

In 2007, his "Reggae Scrapbook" was published by Palace Press and has since received rave reviews. In 2008, Peter, with his wife Ronni, fulfilled a decade long dream and opened up their own gallery. The Simon Gallery is now located right on Main Street in Vineyard Haven, MA, offering an "in person" look at many of the products that are offered on his web site. Most recently, Simon released the ultimate collection of his body of work in the form of a DVD entitled "Through the Lens - Celebrating 50 Years of Personalized Photojournalism." In this very unique product, he tells the inside stories behind many of his iconic images, unravels the many twists and turns his life has taken, and teaches a basic "photography 101" class.

In 1980, he published "On the Vineyard" (Doubleday), which was the start of a series including "On the Vineyard II" (Simon Press, 1990), and "On the Vineyard III" (Simon Press, 2000). The other nine books Simon has published are "Decent Exposures" (Wingbow Press, 1973), "Carly Simon Complete" (Knopf, 1975), "Reggae Bloodlines" (Doubleday, 1976), "Playing in the Band" (St. Martin's Press, 1983) and "The New York Mets: 25 Years of Baseball Magic" (Henry Holt, 1987). In 2001 Little Brown published a comprehensive retrospective of his life work as a handsome coffee table book entitled "I and Eye".

Peter Simon's work has been in many newspapers and magazines, including Time, Newsweek, People, Village Voice, Atlantic Monthly, Cape Cod Life, Boston Magazine, New York Magazine, The New York Times and Rolling Stone. A resident of Martha's Vineyard since 1973, he has been a contributing photographer for the Vineyard Gazette for twelve years, and the Martha's Vineyard Times for thirty. His photographs have been displayed nationwide at many prestigious galleries, including one-man shows at The Nikon House and Niekrug Gallery in New York, and the Kiva Gallery in Boston. Currently, Peter's well known portraits of folk/rock/reggae masters from the 60's and 70's are on permanent display at the John Varvatos clothing store in Copley Plaza, Boston.

Peter lives with his wife Ronni (and his son Willie, as time permits) at their home in Chilmark. He has been married since 1977, a resident of Chilmark since 1988. Although Peter travels a lot off season, he never tires of photographing his beloved Island home.
