Seattle Opera Presents FROST FEST! - 2/6/2016

Come enjoy an exciting afternoon of music and fun at Seattle Opera's Frost Fest! Featuring performances by the company's Youth Opera Chorus, Teen Opera Players, and professional musicians, audiences will hear (and sometimes get to sing along with) classical and folk music from around the world, including songs from Liberia, Italy, Ireland, and the Dominican Republic.  


Eric Carle's Books Head Off-Broadway in THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR SHOW - 2/7/2016

Acclaimed children's author and illustrator, Eric Carle has delighted three generations of readers with his books featuring his distinctive collage art and iconic characters. His most famous book THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR which was first published in 1969, has sold more than 41 million copies worldwide. THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR SHOW will begin performances on January 30, and will celebrate its opening on Sunday, February 7, with an initial run through March 27, 2016 at the 47th Street Theatre (304 W 47th St.).

A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN Launches 70-Show North American Tour in Toronto - 2/9/2016

BroadwayWorld is excited to report that Broadway's A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN (produced by Iconic Entertainment Studios and T&D Productions) will tour to 34 cities across the U.S. and Canada for a total of 70 shows, kicking off February 9th in Toronto. Conceived, written, and directed by Randy Johnson, the rock musical features choreography by Patricia Wilcox and musical direction by Tyler Evans.


Australian CATS Announces Extra Added Performance - 2/9/2016

With tickets selling fast all over Australia, the Producers of Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS have announced the inclusion of an extra performance within the already bursting Brisbane season.  The additional show, which goes on sale today, is for Tuesday 9 February at 7pm.


MOTOWN THE MUSICAL Begins at West End's Shaftesbury Theatre - 2/11/2016

As previously announced, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL will be shakin' it in the West End next spring. And now The Daily Mail has revealed the musical's dates at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, the show is set to begin previews on February 11, with an opening slated for March 8, 2015. 


TAO: DRUM HEART Makes New York Premiere at NYU Skirball - 2/11/2016

The new production will play a strictly limited engagement at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts from Thursday, February 11, 2016 through Sunday, February 14, 2016 before TAO continues its fourth North American tour.

WNO Opens 2016 with Apartheid-Era Opera LOST IN THE STARS - 2/12/2016

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 60th anniversary season with the company premiere of Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson's LOST IN THE STARS, February 12-20 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater.


Ecce Ensemble to Present World Premiere of SWITCH Opera - 2/12/2016

Cambridge, MA (FOR RELEASE 1.11.16) — As the 2015-16 contemporary music ensemble-in-residence at Cambridge's Le Laboratoire, the Ecce Ensemble premieres Switch, a contemporary opera written and composed by John Aylward, directed by Laine Rettmer (Loft Opera), and conducted by Jean-Philippe Wurtz (Ensemble Linea). Featuring two vocalists—Amanda DeBoer Bartlett (soprano) and Mikhail Smigelskii (bass-baritone)—backed by the Ecce Ensemble, Switch explores the relationship between an artist and his muse. In addition to two consecutive weekends of performances, Ecce hosts two free, complementary events open to the public at Le Lab: Re-Imagining Contemporary Opera, an artist talk with Aylward and Rettmer on February 3rd at 6:30 p.m.; and Composers' Reading Session, a workshop/presentation of young local composers' chamber works led by Wurtz on February 15th at 12:00 p.m.

Playwrights Horizons presents the New York premiere of FAMILIAR, a new play by Obie Award winner Danai Gurira, directed by Rebecca Taichman. Previews begin Friday, February 12 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The Pikes Peak Opera League Announces Fifth Annual Gala Event - 2/12/2016

The Pikes Peak Opera League is excited to present its fifth annual Gala Event on February 12 at the Antlers Hotel to benefit Opera Theatre of the Rockies.  This special evening begins with a Social Hour and a Silent Auction including such items as an Elegant Gatsby Summer Garden Party for 20, a three-day Bed and Breakfast Getaway in lovely Cascade, Zipline Adventures, Vintage Jewelry and a golf package at the Club at Flying Horse. Highlights of the evening's music program to be presented after dinner include singers Stephanie Brink, Amalia Dobbins, Amy Mushall and Solveig Olsen along with Humberto Borboa and Malcolm Ulbrick offering arias and musical theater excerpts from Egypt, India, Greece, Algeria, China and Japan. Daniel Brink will be at the piano. The concert reflects the theme of the Gala, 'A Magic Carpet Ride to Exotic Locales.'
