Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts

Established in 1925 we are the second oldest theatre department in the country. Our faculty members are both scholars and artists, teachers and practitioners, constantly moving back and forth between the classroom and the the theatre. The Center for Dramatic Art is the crucible where students transform learning into practice everyday. The Center for Dramatic Art, with its excellent educational and artistic facilities, serves as a teaching theatre where students interact and collaborate with each other, the faculty and resident company members to create world-class educational and theatrical experiences.

Raven Theatre to Present Chicago Premiere of a New Adaptation of A DOLL'S HOUSE

Raven Theatre will continue its 2019-20 season with a revival of Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece A DOLL'S HOUSE, in a vibrant and progressive new adaptation making its Chicago premiere. Directed by Lauren Shouse, the new work features translation by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and adaptation by Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. A DOLL'S HOUSE will play February 6 - March 22, 2020 on Raven's 85-seat East Stage, 6157 N. Clark St. (at Granville) in Chicago. Bowdoin Museum Appoints Scholar of the Ancient World Sean Burrus as New Mellon Fellow

Today, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art (BCMA) announced the selection of Dr. Sean Burrus as the next Andrew W. Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow, a three-year appointment. Burrus joins the BCMA from the Frankel Institute for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan, where he is currently an Institute Fellow. Burrus is a scholar of the art and archaeology of the ancient Mediterranean, with specialization in the history of Judaism and its visual culture across the Roman world. Burrus previously served as the Bothmer Fellow in Greek and Roman Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has participated in archaeological excavations at Sepphoris, Ashkelon, and Yotvata, all in Israel. He will assume his position at the BCMA in June 2018.

Rivendell Announces Extension of THE CAKE

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core will add four performances to the run The Cake by Bekah Brunstetter, directed by Lauren Shouse, and featuring RTE Founders Tara Mallen and Keith Kupferer, RTE Member Krystel McNeil, with Tuckie White.  Eight performances have been added to the run, which must close June 2, 2018 at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.
