Let's just enjoy the marvelous legacy this great lady left us and enjoy her films and brilliant recordings and remember her that way.

Guest - Broadway community would be hypocritical if they act like injuries do not happen on a constant basis. Ask any dancer on a tour, ask how many times swings get put to work, ask the chorus about the backstage horrors. Spider-Man has had mishaps in their preview stages and that allows everyone to fly their " safety" flag or play broadway accountant, because they know this will evolve into something special and Taymor is fearless. Here's an old thread on injuries: /board/printthread.cfm?th...

As an artist and a creator, she should realize now her concept and overall vision is tainted with issues that now include an almost human casualty. Read on bloomberg news that the actor has internal bleeding?! As a former actor, this is terribly hurtful to know that to be in the hands of those you trust, things like this still happen. Even 60 millions buck-a-roos can't help this production.

Don Treact - "I've read all of her books I don't care if I.......I like Poiret." Just said by a grey-haired patron to a librarian about large print Agatha Christies. So, retroactive selfsame real time never has to come in. It's an "express" that they run in Washington, D.C. They don't have to identify themselves at all. This is an obvious common mistake, to believe they identify themselves partially. In reality, there are only so many titanium pins with nanotechnology that will hold up a football field-sized rigid metal sheet, and only so many such rigid metal sheets. None of them are in South Korea. None of them are in Turkey. What the football field-sized metal sheets consist of is found in the first two posts to this, web page 13. None of them are in the Phillipines. Courtesy, of course, of your Washington, D.C. adult males who never have identified themselves, at all.

Don Treact - No wonder every pizza place and Hardee's in Omaha and Mardi Gras---is on the episode! Before the prediction and episode were given, it was about distinguishing titanium pins with nanotechnology to hold up football field-sized rigid metal sheets, from correlations found in those large rigid metal sheets. There's also retroactive selfsame real time in those metal sheets. What is a titanium pin of this sort? What are correlations? The titanium pin generates the rigid metal sheet which becomes balanced on it, over time. But, wouldn't there be a lot of those, titanium pins which generate? More than you'd know about, true. But only a finite number. But, wouldn't something else knock the rigid metal sheet off the given titanium pin? With what? You should be thinking about getting out of here alive. I mean, with what type of alternative relating to selfsame real time.

If Julie Taymor was so concerned she would temporarily close this show until they can actually have a safe, functioning and enjoyable show. I'm disgusted with OSHA, Equity, Iaste and the Department of Labor for allowing this blatent disregard for safety and well being of the performers and crew involved, not to mention the audience who is gettin bilked on a nightly basis. Don Treact - The entire murder plot by the Dean Jones character "generates" the context for mystical Morgana, the victim's sister, to believe that she saw her sister's spirit rise up from her fallen body with the gate close to closing on the head. What she saw was Dean Jones making his getaway after body placement. But in fact, Morgana in this context means there was a hole in the plan. Someone could still look out and see Dean Jones after he placed the body, no longer being interpreted as the same the victim because dragging her along somehow and playing drunk. This "someone" is Morgana. In the prediction, the plan to make it look like the victim had lots of money with him by leaving a thousand dollar bill before murdering him also runs aground on the placement of that bill, on top of a time point known to no longer have the victim in the restaurant. Okay, so both prediction and episode have a false belief in a "spirit," such as that of generosity in the restaurant, and both have a big hole in the murder plan. Both have "placement."

I, for one, am moderately pleased with the music now (because they've cut Heaven By the Sea, and the other campy/Disney songs). I do agree that the plot needs to be finalized, but at least there's 75% of the plot written (unlike Spider-Man).

Don Treact - The prediction and the episode with the evil Dean Jones should be further discussed, as there's no question about the fact that Dean Jones creating the illusion of accidental death by closure of a heavy metal gate on the head of the guest actress is the topic of discussion right now in the United States. You can't go into a pizza parlor in Omaha or Grand Rapids without getting drawn into a discussion on the metal gate. Well, the episode has confusion about the time sequence for Dean Jones seemingly staggering to the intercom box at the gate as if he is the family's bad drinking daughter, while actually having her body hidden on his person. He then has to seem to be her asking somehow for the gate to be opened, seemingly too drunk to really speak. Once the gate is open, he has to lay the body down, seemingly while everyone is preoccupied inside and not looking, and exit the scene fast. When they look out again, the gate is closing on the head of the already-murdered daughter, because the dog has been whistled to to hit the close button in the control room.

Bill Bratney - And so it begins again! Fifty years ago I was a little kid in Portland, Oregon when my parents handed me a copy of the current National Geographic with an article about the Civil War. I have been hooked ever since. Now we are starting the 150th observance, War brought out the best, and worst, of people on both sides of the conflict. North and South, black and white, everyone suffered and in some ways everyone triumphed. We can remember with affection and pride the sacrifices of the men in Gray who fought for love of section and for their interpretation of the Constitution their forefathers had struggled to bring into existence. The Union troops suffered horrendous losses throughout the war but persisted in their war to keep the Union intact. Blacks came of age during the conflict, suffering at the Crater, and other battlefields as they fought to earn their freedom. All Americans should welcome this 150th Commemoration.

Dan - This "Theatre Insider" is anything but. The real insider should be someone educated about the events of the night, or someone who actually has some knowledge of what was involved in the creation of this. Did he happen to know that the same company who built a lot of the technology for TOTD also built the equipment for Cirque du Soleil? Otherwise, he's no better than the other self-described "theatre insiders" posting misinformation and fanning the fires on the message board based solely on hearsay.

It is visually stunning but the rest of it stinks. The music sucks, the acting and singing stinks and it dumbing down of Broadway. Julie Taymor should be ashamed of herself for trying to pass this off as a show - she knows that tourists will buy tickets to see some visual stuff, but anyone who wants to see a Broadway show for good music, a goof book and lyrics will know in their heart of hearts that its junk. Shame on you Julie Taymor. You should not play God with people in the theatre for entertainment purposes. If someone dies, its your fault.

Then they should have done an out of town rehearsal period where they just did the technical run through of things. Then by the time they got back to Ny, it would have all been figured out. I wish Taymoure and the team the best of luck, and hopefully no one else will get injured.

Guest. - The insider comments that the acting population are not acrobats or trained aerialists... however it wasn't one of the show's 'actors' as such that experienced this particular incident. It was one of nine stunt men employed specifically for the brief and dangerous encounters. There will always be an element of risk involved, and sometimes it can be human error, sometimes technical failure at will. In this situation, it was technical failure, which can and WILL happen to ANY show. If there is to be comment made regarding the professionalism of a company of Cirque du Soleil, a company of whom I used to be employed of, a number of artists in the shows are actually performing a discipline that is completely different to that of which they were originally trained and auditioned for. It was not unusual for an artist in my show to learn an aerial act once they made their way into the company. Yes, they would receive training for several months regarding the act, safety, and execution, and I have no doubt that the cast, crew, and stunt team of Spiderman: TOTD also received similar, if not more extensive training, particularly because of the international team (including former Cirque employees) involved in designing and coaching for the spectacle.

Rachel - I have not had the opportunity to see this show, nor do I expect to get the chance in the future if it ever does open (a tragic that comes from living in Kentucky). However, if it does, I think all possible Tonys should go to all the actors in the show just for sticking with the show & surviving it!

E to the V - Oh my this show was TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE. Why were only TWO beds in the orphanage...four girls to a bed? Seems like no one gave her any stage direction or guidance to channel her dead-on comic genius to the stage. There two moments of brilliance. The rest was beyond high school mediocrecy.

Jenny T - The mindless arrogance of the producers and director is just appalling. People don't matter; effects matter. Really, the cast ought simply to refuse to play until the safety issues are worked out - with crash test dummies, not human beings. Where are the unions? Is nobody going to stand up for the performers? Does someone actually have to die?

@timjonesx - The ambulance stayed on site longer then expected," -- what happened next in your chronological list of events, Jackwagon? If you spent more time learning grammar than you do idolizing sodomites, you'd still be a shitty journalist.

Giovanni - And for tomorrow nights show they will try out the new "flying guillotine" scene for the first time ever, in which Spiderman has to fly through the metallic jaws of death before the really sharp blade cuts him in half. I do hope they have plenty of understudies ready in the wings if and when this new stunt does not work out.... Giovanni

Sean - Please pardon the gallows humor, but should we start calling this "the Comic Book play," in much the same way as we refer to "The Scottish Play"?

Travis - That is absolutely horrifying. The show needs to be shut down until proper changes can be made. The fact that this is the FOURTH injury tells us that theres aren't just freak accidents.
