Jeremy Jordan's BREAKING CHARACTER at 54 Below Closes Today - 11/1/2014

Jeremy Jordan, star of Broadway, film, and television, will make his 54 Below and New York City solo concert debut in Breaking Character, October 27 - November 1, 2014. Recounting iconic and deciding moments from his budding career, Jeremy will perform the songs that have defined his swift rise to stardom. Selections include music from Broadway's Newsies, NBC's Smash, and his upcoming film The Last 5 Years, along with many of his own personal favorites. Often more comfortable on stage as a character than himself, this bright young artist will step into the solo spotlight for the very first time to tell us a bit of his own fascinating story.


Gleason, Zien Set for INTO SWEENEY TODD'S WOODS at NJPAC - 11/1/2014

'Into Sweeney Todd's Woods' is a monster mash-up of two landmark musicals by Stephen Sondheim -- Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods -- performed by a wickedly talented cast that includes Joanna Gleason, Chip Zien and Sarah Rice. The presentation is set for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 6:00 PM & 8:30 PM.


Opera Parallele to Present Premiere of MY HEAD IS FULL OF COLORS as Part of National Opera Week - 11/1/2014

San Francisco, CA, September 30, 2014 - Continuing its trailblazing tradition of presenting new and less familiar works of music theatre, Opera Parallele will give the world premiere of an opera based on author Catherine Friend's beloved children's book, My Head is Full of Colors, Saturday, November 1, at 11 am in the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin Street. Written by Santa Cruz composer Chris Pratorius with libretto by Opera Parallele Artistic Director Nicole Paiement, the work is the first commission premiered by the Company and is being performed during National Opera Week (October 24-November 2). The production will feature 4th grade students from Creative Arts Charter Schoolperforming with soprano Carolyn Bacon and baritone Sergey Khalikulov. Laura Anderson is the stage director, costumes are designed by Elly Jessop; the singers and small instrumental ensemble will be conducted by OP Intern Conductor William Long.

John Douglas Thompson will lead a company of 19 actors playing 60 roles in the first major New York production since Broadway 1956 of Christopher Marlowe's 1587 epic Tamburlaine, Parts I and II, Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director of Theatre for a New Audience, announced. Directed and edited by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd, former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Marlowe's two-part drama will be performed as one 3.5-hour play, plus a 30-minute intermission.

Off-Broadway's BAYSIDE! THE MUSICAL! Sets Halloween Edition, 10/29-11/1 - 11/1/2014

National Lampoon's Bayside! The Musical! - the hilarious unauthorized parody of the wholesome Saturday morning program "Saved by the Bell" - will present a special Halloween edition this year. For the week of Wednesday, October 29 through Saturday, November 1, the new show will be inspired on the classic 1991 "Mystery Weekend" episode of "Saved by the Bell." That week is also "Saved by the Bell" Costume Week: anyone who attends the musical dressed as their favorite character will receive a special prize. Dustin Diamond - the original "Screech" from the TV series - will be featured in every performance through December 6, playing Dustin Diamond, the role he was born to play.


Lincoln Center's Scary Movies 8 Presents LATE PHASES Screening on 11/1 - 11/1/2014

Crescent Bay is not the ideal place to spend one's golden years, especially since the once-idyllic retirement community has been beset by a series of deadly animal attacks from the ominous forest surrounding it. When grizzled war veteran Ambrose McKinley (Nick Damici) is forced into moving there by his yuppie son Will (Ethan Embry), the residents immediately take offense to Ambrose's abrasive personality.


E! Presents FURIOUS 7 Trailer Launch Event Special - 11/1/2014

Opera Australia's Community Choirs Perform Concert - 11/1/2014

Lincoln Center Theater Opens Sarah Ruhl's THE OLDEST BOY - 11/3/2014

Rehearsals are currently underway for Lincoln Center Theater's production of of Sarah Ruhl's new play THE OLDEST BOY. The play, directed by Rebecca Taichman, will begin previews Thursday, October 9 and open on Monday, November 3 in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).


Patti LuPone to Premiere FAR AWAY PLACES Follow-Up at 54 Below - 11/3/2014

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, will present two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone in 'Far Away Places - Part Two' November 3 -15. In an evening conceived and directed by Tony Award winner Scott Wittman, LuPone returns with Part Two of the show which she premiered to critical acclaim when 54 Below opened in June 2012. In this continuation of the show (which will include a few encores from the landmark Part One) she further explores her wanderlust, performing songs by an eclectic group of songwriters including Irving Caesar, Billy Joel, David Yazbek, Johnny Mercer and Kris Kristofferson.

Guare Writes New Play BETWEEN Marks Rockwell Group's 30th Anniversary - 11/3/2014

John Guare has written a new play commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Rockwell Group. Between, a new 10-minute play, will have its world premiere performance on Monday, November 3 at NeueHouse at an event celebrating the launch of the forthcoming book, What If… ?: The Architecture and Design of David Rockwell. Jack O'Brien directs the performance, which will star Stockard Channing and Mr. Guare himself. The full text of the play is included in the new book.


Broadway Will Celebrate the Life of Mary Rodgers Guettel on 11/3 - 11/3/2014

The life of Mary Rodgers Guettel, composer and children's book author, will be remembered and honored in a memorial celebration on Monday, November 3 at Town Hall. Mary was best known for her musical Once Upon a Mattress, and her novel Freaky Friday. She passed away in June at her home in New York City. She was 83 years old.

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will star in The Band Wagon, an Encores! Special Event based on the classic MGM movie of the same title, from November 6 - 16, 2014 at City Center. The show has a book by Douglas Carter Beane adapted from the screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, with music by Arthur Schwartz and lyrics by Howard Dietz. The Band Wagon will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall with music direction by Todd Ellison. The Band Wagon will run for 12 performances, by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.


The New Group's STICKS AND BONES with Holly Hunter & Bill Pullman Starts Previews - 11/6/2014

The New Group has announced today complete production dates for David Rabe's Sticks and Bones, the first production in the company's 20th Anniversary Season. Previews begin Tuesday, October 21, in advance of an Official Opening Night on Thursday, November 6.
