Honk Jr! in Broadway HONK JR!
Starlight Community Theater
9/7-9/23/2018
Honk! JR. is a heartwarming celebration of being different that is sure to delight all ages with its sparkling wit, unique charm and memorable score. Witty and hilarious, but also deeply moving, Honk! JR. will treat audiences to equal amounts of laughter and tears. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

THE FIRST ANNUAL BOOKBURNERS CONVENTION by Ashley Naftule in Broadway THE FIRST ANNUAL BOOKBURNERS CONVENTION BY ASHLEY NAFTULE
Space 55
9/7-9/30/2018
Every day feels exactly the same for the employees at the Opera Street Bookstore: talking about pop culture, taking never-ending smoke breaks, dealing with insane customers, and suffering the whims of their flaky manager. Their dead end jobs turn deadly, though, when a sketchy customer sells them a strange book. Written in a language nobody understands, two brothers and their militant feminist witch BFF try to decode it while sinister forces close in around them. It turns out that the book is a hot commodity, and the people who want to get their hands on it aren’t people at all. A play about workplace drudgery and cosmic dread, The First Annual Bookburners Convention is a horror-comedy by the writer of Ear.

ASU Music Theatre and Opera - Evelyn Smith Music Theatre
9/21-9/30/2018
Passions run high as leading lady Lilli Vanessi and her ex-husband, actor/director Fred Graham, battle onstage and off in a production of Shakespeare’s "Taming of the Shrew." With romance, comedy, sophistication and behind-the-scenes high-jinks, the 1999 revival version of “Kiss Me, Kate” combines the word-play and irreverent humor of Cole Porter and William Shakespeare, with a book by husband and wife duo Samuel and Bella Spewack. Musical numbers include “So In Love,” “Wunderbar,” “Tom, Dick or Harry,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” “I Hate Men,” “Always True to You (In My Fashion)” and “Another Op’nin, Another Show.” This performance will feature the 1999 revised version with updated script and orchestrations. Music and lyrics by Cole Porter; book by Samuel and Bella Spewack; stage direction and choreography by Molly Lajoie; music direction by Brian DeMaris and Danielle Hutchison. “Kiss Me, Kate” is presented by arrangement with Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc., 560 Lexington Ave., New York, NY 10022.
