I'm Not Famous - A Musical Journey with Barbara Minkus in Broadway I'M NOT FAMOUS - A MUSICAL JOURNEY WITH BARBARA MINKUS
Santa Monica Playhouse
6/3-7/22/2017
Extended! It’s "tiny, talented terrific Barbara Minkus" (Backstage) in a dynamite world premiere musical, helmed by renowned director Susan Morgenstern, with musical accompaniment by Ron Barnett. I’m Not Famous is subtitled A Musical Journey with Barbara Minkus. Barbara may not be famous, but you’ve seen her ---a lot: On stage, on screen and especially on television. Other than the fact that she never became actually famous, she’s had what most performers would consider an enviable career. Because she started out as, and remains, an accomplished singer, her show business memoir is a musical one.

Seussical the Musical in Broadway SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL
Morgan-Wixson Theatre
6/24-7/29/2017
"Seussical the Musical" is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Ahrens and Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including The Cat in the Hat; Horton, the elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing the Whos, vowing to protect them from naysayers and dangers; the irresponsible and lazy Mayzie; the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz; and Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” These colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. "Seussical" is fun for the whole family!

Replete with ditzy sisters, a befuddled sire, a spell-binding sorceress and a flamboyantly foppish suitor, who all inadvertently or intentionally strew more than a few thorns along Beauty and her Beast's arduous, and ardor-ous, path. A story where loves wins out, allowing all to find their happily-ever-after endings, and prove that beauty is as beauty does and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Pinocchio in Broadway PINOCCHIO
Morgan-Wixson Theatre
7/15-7/30/2017
This exciting new adaptation of the classic Italian story incorporates the audience’s imagination to reinforce the universal importance of telling the truth. Desperate for a son, lonely puppeteer Gepetto crafts a wooden boy. Pinocchio, however, is not content with his stilted life, so after making a promise to his father, he heads off to school, believing that’s the key to becoming a real boy. Along the way, Pinocchio is easily sidetracked by diversions that he hopes will result in more money, friends and fun. Though he gets tricked out of his only possessions, Pinocchio eventually overcomes his scheming foes with the help of a clever cricket and a helpful fairy. This thrilling show is presented by Morgan-Wixson's award-winning Youth Education Series. Y.E.S. is part of the theatre’s commitment to engaging young audiences, training young talent, and supporting literacy.
