In Rehearsal With Tom Hiddleston & CORIOLANUS

In Rehearsal With Tom Hiddleston & CORIOLANUSInternational screen superstar and noted thespian Tom Hiddleston returns to the stage this winter in the Donmar Warehouse production of William Shakespeare's historical drama CORIOLANUS and the director of the highly anticipated, sold-out revival has shared some behind the scenes shots in honor of rehearsals beginning this week, featuring the stars of the show.

Josie Rourke took to Twitter to post a series of shots today, captioning them with allusions to the text for the bloody, war-torn tragedy itself.

Rourke wrote, "Fight rehearsals begin for Coriolanus. Time to tell twitter who is playing Aufidius @donmarwarehouse" accompanying a picture of an unsheathed sword as well as "From Garry Kasparov to Tullus Aufidius, @hadleyfraser and @twhiddleston in Coriolanus rehearsals today," along with a shot of stars Tom Hiddleston and Hadley Fraser.

Then, Rourke quoted the Bard's hallowed text itself, sharing, "Make you a sword of me." Coriolanus"

Additionally, fight director Richard Ryan is featured in the pics bringing the accomplished actors up to speed, as well.

Of note, the first promo for Tom Hiddleston in CORIOLANUS was unveiled late last week, available here.

Hiddleston will take on the title role in the war-themed tragedy at the Donmar Warehouse in London's West End, running December 6 through February 8, 2014. The production will be directed by Josie Rourke.

The official synopsis of CORIOLANUS as per the Donmar Warehouse is as follows: "When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus. But he has enemies at home too. Famine threatens the city, the citizens' hunger swells to an appetite for change, and on returning from the field Coriolanus must confront the march of realpolitik and the voice of an angry people."

Additionally, CORIOLANUS will be filmed and broadcast as part of National Theatre Live on January 30, 2014.

Hiddleston previously starred in Shakespeare's OTHELLO and CYMBELINE onstage, as well as in BBC's THE HOLLOW CROWN film series last year, portraying Prince Hal in HENRY IV Parts 1 and 2 as well as HENRY V. Of note, THE HOLLOW CROWN continues tonight on PBS in the US.
