TBTB Stages Agatha Christie's THE UNEXPECTED GUEST - 4/11/2015

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB) launches its 2015 season with a revival of Agatha Christie's rarely seen 1958 thriller The Unexpected Guest, with Off-Broadway previews set to begin April 11 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) in Manhattan.

Deborah Voigt Stars in THE MERRY WIDOW at Michigan Opera Theatre - 4/11/2015

"Internationally renowned … for her unique combination of exquisite singing and hilarious comic acting" (Vanity Fair), Deborah Voigt turns her talents to operetta next month, when she makes her title role debut in Lehar's The Merry Widow. In a new production from award-winning director Kelly Robinson at Michigan Opera Theatre, the soprano will head a cast that also features Roger Honeywell, Amanda Squitieri, Aaron Blake, and Richard Suart as Baron Mirko Zeta, with Gerald Steichen leading from the pit (April 11-19).

Roundabout Closes Fiasco Theater's Reimagined INTO THE WOODS - 4/12/2015

Pacific Symphony's Family Musical Mornings to Conclude with BEETHOVEN LIVES UPSTAIRS - 4/18/2015

Orange County, Calif.-March 31, 2015-Pacific Symphony invites its Family Musical Mornings audience to imagine what it would be like to live next door to one of the most-famous composers of all time during "Beethoven Lives Upstairs," the award-winning production by Classical Kids Live. Weaving masterful music and true stories from Beethoven's life into a dramatic tale, the concert tells the story of a young boy from Vienna named Christoph (Will J. Green), whose new neighbor is the one-and-only Beethoven. Through a lively exchange of letters with his uncle (Thad Avery), where their subject is the "madman" who lives upstairs, Christoph comes to understand Beethoven's gift, the beauty of his music and the torment of his deafness. With more than 20 excerpts packed into a 50-minute concert, the performance sweeps kids away with Beethoven's beautiful music. Led by Assistant Conductor Alejandro Gutierrez, the Symphony performs favorites including "Moonlight Sonata," "Fur Elise" and the world-famous Symphony No. 5 with the "da-da-da-dun" theme. Directed by Paul Pement, the adaptation of Barbara Nichol's acclaimed novel leaves the audience appreciating the genius of Beethoven and the diversity of his music from the big dramatic sounds to the sweet romantic melodies.

TDF Hosts Special Performance of HEIDI CHRONICLES to Benefit Open Doors - 4/18/2015

On Saturday, April 18th, TDF will host a special reception and performance of The Heidi Chronicles to celebrate the show's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein, and to raise funds for the arts education program she co-founded, TDF's Open Doors. Open Doors, now in its 17th year, is the first arts education program to be awarded a special Tony Honor for 'Excellence in the Theatre.'
