BIO
Hugh Jackman began his professional acting career in the Australian television series Correlli. In 1996, he appeared on stage as Gaston in the Australian production of Beauty and the Beast and as Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard. In 1998, he performed in the cabaret production Summa Cabaret at the Midsumma Festival. His early film roles included Erskineville Kings and Paperback Hero. His early television appearances included roles in Law of the Land, Halifax f.p., Blue Heelers, and Banjo Paterson's The Man from Snowy River. In 1998, he starred as Curly in the Royal National Theatre’s London production of Oklahoma!, and appeared in the 1999 film version of the musical.
Jackman achieved his international breakthrough playing Wolverine in X‑Men. He reprised the role in X2, X‑Men: The Last Stand, X‑Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, X‑Men: Days of Future Past, X‑Men: Apocalypse, Logan, and Deadpool & Wolverine. During this period, he also starred in films including Kate & Leopold, Swordfish, and Van Helsing. On stage, he starred as Peter Allen in the Broadway musical The Boy from Oz from 2003 to 2004.
In 2006, Jackman starred in The Prestige, The Fountain, and Scoop, and voiced characters in Happy Feet and Flushed Away. In 2007, he produced and appeared in the television series Viva Laughlin. He starred in Australia and appeared on Broadway in the play A Steady Rain in 2009. In 2011, he performed in the stage production Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway.
In 2012, Jackman starred as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables and voiced a character in Rise of the Guardians. He appeared in Movie 43 and returned to Broadway in the play The River from 2014 to 2015. He starred in Pan, Eddie the Eagle, and The Greatest Showman. In 2018, he starred in The Front Runner, and in 2019, he voiced a character in Missing Link and starred in Bad Education.
Jackman returned to Broadway in a revival of The Music Man from 2021 to 2023. He also starred in The Son. In addition to his screen and stage work, Jackman toured internationally in 2019 with the concert tour The Man. The Music. The Show., performing songs from his film and stage career.
