ATMTC Launches D.C.-Wide Search For Teen Stars

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), celebrating the glorious richness of our world by cultivating Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity, seeks eight middle and high school students aged (11 - 18) for the roles of Huckleberry Finn, Jim, Mary Jane, and Alice in Huckleberry Finn's Big River, a world premiere Theatre For Young Audiences co-production with The Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. In association with Rogers and Hammerstein Theatricals and First Stage, Milwaukee, Huckleberry Finn's Big River is based on the Tony Award Winning musical, Big River by William Hauptman and music and lyrics by Roger Miller. ATMTC will conduct auditions September 24- October 2, 2018, in Washington, DC, Montgomery County, Fairfax County, Prince George's County, and Frederick County. Yeston & Kopit's 'PHANTOM' made its New York Premiere here at WBT in 1992. During our record breaking nine- month run, over 120,000 people attended. Night after night, audiences rose to their feet for the stunning musical thriller. The original production was directed by William Pullinsi and starred Robert Cuccioli as the Phantom and Glory Crampton as Christine Daee. 'PHANTOM' returned to our stage in 1996 and 2007 directed and choreographed by Tom Polum, who had been in the original production. NCTC Presents International LGBTQ Love Story CARDBOARD PIANO

In October, New Conservatory Theatre Center is pleased to present the regional premiere of Cardboard Piano by Whiting Award-winning playwright, Hansol Jung, in partnership with Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) . Directed by Tom Bruett, this "deeply moving new play" (Courier Journal) is a sweeping tale of love, redemption, and the ongoing fight for international LGBTQ rights. 16-year old Chris just wants to find a safe place to live with the girl she loves- not an easy task in 1999 Uganda. Determined to be together, Chris, the daughter of American missionaries and Adiel, a local girl, meet in the village church to marry in secret. When the war outside the church walls breaks its way into their sanctuary in the form of a wounded child-soldier, all three lives become tied together forever.
