Scoop: THE CIRCUS: INSIDE THE BIGGEST STORY ON EARTH on Showtime - Sunday, May 7, 2017
As members of Congress return home to face their constituents, President Trump changes course on key policy stances and THE CIRCUS: THE BIGGEST STORY ON EARTH is there to capture the country's reaction in this season's fifth episode, "Recess Reset," airing Sunday, April 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.
Highlights of the episode include co-host John Heilemann's travels with Virginia Senator and 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine and Georgia Republican Senator David Perdue as they hear from voters disgruntled about Donald Trump and the dysfunction in Washington. Heilemann also speaks with Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings, an influential member of the Congressional Black Caucus, about his relationship with Trump - and the African-American community's view of embattled White House strategist Steve Bannon.
Meanwhile, co-host Mark Halperin goes behind the scenes at Marist College's polling center to give viewers an inside look at one of the country's preeminent public opinion operations. And co-host Mark McKinnon goes back to his roots in Texas, catching up with Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Mike Conway, the latter of whom just took over the House Intelligence Committee's investigation of Russian election interference after chairman Devin Nunes recused himself from the inquiry.
THE CIRCUS: INSIDE THE BIGGEST STORY ON EARTH is hosted by New York Times bestselling co-authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann (Game Change and Double Down). THE CIRCUS is produced by Left/Right (a part of RED ARROW Entertainment Group) for SHOWTIME. Mark Halperin, John Heilemann, Mark McKinnon, Banks Tarver and Ken Druckerman serve as executive producers.
The series will conclude on Sunday, May 7 with the eighth and final episode for the season.
