Brad Pitt Attacked on Red Carpet of MALEFICENT Premiere

Variety reports that actor Brad Pitt was physically attacked while attending Wednesday night's world premiere of MALEFICIENT, starring his long time partner Angelina Jolie.

The attacker, later identified as celebrity prankster Vitalii Sediuk, was able to jump over the security barriers while the glamorous couple were signing autographs in front of Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre. He proceeded to approach Pitt on the red carpet, and according to witnesses, struck him in the face.

25-year-old Sediuk was held by security guards until the LAPD arrived to take him into custody. According to LAPD Sgt. Leonard Calderon the attacker was brought to a Hollywood police station where he was arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery. He is being held on $20,000 bail.

Pitt was said to be unharmed and continued to sign autographs for fans in attendance at the event.

"This was an unfortunate and inappropriate incident that is being investigated by the LAPD," a spokesperson for Disney, the distributor of "Maleficent," told Variety.

Ukranian TV presenter Sediuk appeared just 11 days ago in Cannes with his head under America Ferrera's dress. Last year, he interrupted the Grammys and carried out such stunts as grabbing Leonardo DiCaprio, attempting to kiss Will Smith and groping at Bradley Cooper at red carpet events.
