THIRST Makes Its World Premiere At HERE Arts Center - 3/17/2009

First Light Theater Group, in association with The Pyramid Media Company and 9Squared Entertainment, present the World Premiere of THIRST: a spell for Christabel, a new play by Monika Bustamante, based on the unfinished gothic poem "Christabel" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834). Directed by Elena Araoz and produced by David Davoli on an Off-Broadway contract, previews begin March 10th at HERE Arts Center. Opening is slated for Tuesday, March 17th.

THIRST: a spell for Christabel retells Coleridge's gothic story in an abandoned forest suffering from an apocalyptic drought. Christabel and her father, stubborn hold-outs in the dying woods, are visited by a mysterious and opportunistic woman who quickly transforms their quiet world. Soon they must choose between her frightening, seductive promises and the quickly diminishing safety of The Life they've always known.

THIRST: a spell for Christabel will feature Matthew Cowles (Veronika Decides to Die, Life on Mars, Oz), Lori Funk, and Elizabeth Gross as Christabel, with set by Susan Zeeman Rogers, costumes by Chloe Chapin, lighting by Justin Townsend, and sound design by Arielle Edwards. Stage management will be by Rosie Goldman.


ROCK OF AGES - 3/17/2009

The producers of ROCK OF AGES announced today that tickets to the new Broadway musical will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, February 5, 2009 via Ticketmaster.com (212) 307-4100.

In an unprecedented ticket structure, a large block of orchestra and front mezzanine tickets for preview performances (March 17, 2009 - April 6, 2009) can be purchased for $49.50 with the code "PROCK" and, after opening on April 7, 2009, the production will have a lower top ticket price than ANY other Broadway musical with a ticket range of $26.50 - $99.00. Rrazz Room to Celebrate 1st Anniversary with Gala - Moreno, Clark, Powers & More to Perform - 3/17/2009

The Rrazz Room, San Francisco?s premier nightclub offering world class jazz, soul, cabaret, comedy and popular music entertainment, has announced the lineup for its 1st Anniversary Gala & Benefit for St Jude Children's Hospital. The producers of ROCK OF AGES announced the complete, awesome cast for Broadway's new, smash hit musical today. Constantine Maroulis, ("American Idol" Season 4, Broadway's The Wedding Singer, RENT) reprising his critically acclaimed role as "Drew", is now joined by Broadway's best 1970's & 1980's period actors Amy Spanger (The Wedding Singer, Kiss Me Kate) as "Sherrie" and James Carpinello (Saturday Night Fever, VH1's "So NoTORIous") as "Stacee Jaxx".

Beginning performances Tuesday, March 17, Tony Award-winner Rondi Reed will join the Broadway company of the hit musical WICKED in the role of Madame Morrible. Ms. Reed was the original Morrible in the Chicago production of WICKED and returned to the role in Chicago after winning the Tony Award for August: Osage County. She joins a cast which includes Nicole Parker as Elphaba, Alli Mauzey as Glinda, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Cristy Candler as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.


Musicals Tonight Presents Fats Waller's 1943 Broadway Hit EARLY TO BED - 3/17/2009

The cuadrilla of an over-the-hill matador (Vincent D'Elia) comes to Martinique in search of a paying bull-fight. They stop (running out of gas) in front of an establishment run by the matador's old flame (Rita Rehn). Years ago, she was a teacher and because her "girls" are carrying books on Latin, French, and math he assumes she still is. His son (Nicolas Davila) is sent to get gas the hard way - by earning it with a lady station owner. A car accident has the son in bed with the island's newest resident (Jennifer Evans). Pop thinks she's rich and wants damages, the son thinks she owns a gas station and wants gas, she is concussed.


Celebrate The Luck Of The Irish In NYC - 3/17/2009

Celebrate the luck of the Irish at New York-New York this March. Party on the Brooklyn Bridge and rock the night away at Nine Fine Irishmen with the ultimate U2 tribute band Rattle and Hum, Irish favorites Celtic Rockers and Ri Ra, the all-female Irish-themed band Killians Angels, and Irish musicians Mike Bowman and Frank Joseph. Writer/Director Roland Tec's (All The Rage) latest film, WE PEDAL UPHILL: Stories From The States 2001-2008, will open its theatrical engagement in New York at the Cinema Village on March 20, 2009. After the 2004 election, and troubled by the climate of fear taking hold of the country, Writer/Director Roland Tec began taking notes. Clipping news stories from the country he saw transforming before him, Tec let his imagination roam where the headlines left off. And so were born the thirteen vignettes that make up this penetrating look at a country mired in one of its darkest periods.


More Laughter - 'ENTER LAUGHING The Musical' Extends - 3/20/2009

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) is presenting the return engagement of its acclaimed production of ENTER LAUGHING: THE MUSICAL. MAMMA MIA-THE REAL STORY Celebrates Show's 10th Anniversary - 3/21/2009

Original and current cast members from the West End stage production of Mamma Mia! will share their stories and experiences of the musical as part of a 10th annual documentary Called Mamma Mia!-The Real Story. The documentary is being made by USP Content and broadcast by Guardian Media Group's Smooth Radio and Real Radio networks. It will be released in March.

The piece will also include stories and contributions from the production's writer Catherine Johnson. In it Johnson will discuss her original ideas for the show and how much she pushed to retain control of the film version with Meryl Streep. Streep will also be featured in the two part documentary.


David Levine Presents VENICE SAVED: A SEMINAR - 3/21/2009

A.R.T./New York Internship Fair - 3/21/2009

A.R.T./New York (Alliance of Resident Theatres/ New York) has joined forces with The American Theatre Wing and the Michael Tuch Foundation to present the eighth annual A.R.T./New York Internship Fair on Saturday, March 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The fair is open to undergraduate students, graduate students and recent graduates of all majors seeking theatre internships for the summer and fall of 2009. Representatives from more than 50 New York theatres, including The New Group, New York Stage and Film, Signature Theatre Company and Roundabout Theatre Company will be present to meet with potential interns and discuss careers in the theatre.
