Twenty years after the murder of six-year-old beauty-pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey, the case remains unsolved. ABC News’ Amy Robach sits down exclusively with a juror from the grand jury that voted to indict John and Patsy Ramsey, JonBenét’s parents, of placing her in a situation that resulted in her death. During the 13-month proceedings this juror saw secret evidence and says he believes he knows who murdered JonBenét. The hour-long report has an interview with District Attorney Stan Garnett, who announced this week that there will be a new round of DNA testing in the case. This report also includes interviews with Linda Arndt, the first detective to arrive at the Ramseys’ house; Thumper Gosney, JonBenét’s friend and competitor on the beauty pageant circuit; Craig Lewis, the editor of The Globe in 1996; former Boulder Police Chief Tom Koby; Cina Wong, handwriting expert and more. “20/20” airs FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16 (10:01–11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC.

On December 26, 1996, Patsy Ramsey found a three-page ransom note on the stairs in their house, explaining that JonBenét had been kidnapped, and called the police. During a search of the house with John, investigators found JonBenét murdered in the basement. Patsy and John quickly became suspects when some investigators believed that the evidence pointed to an inside job: there was no sign of forced entry, the ransom note was unusually long, and JonBenét had undigested food in her stomach, which some said contradicted the Ramseys’ statement that she was fast asleep. Other authorities do not agree that John and Patsy were involved and believe that the DNA from an unidentified male that was found on JonBenét underwear and leggings proves that it was someone else. A year and a half after JonBenét’s murder District Attorney Alex Hunter convened a grand jury, which recommended to indict them. However, Hunter decided not to prosecute the Ramseys, and the case remains open.

“20/20” is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and David Muir. David Sloan is senior executive producer.
