Original Cast Recording Of NAPOLEON To Be Re-released - 6/1/2009

The original cast recording of 'Napoleon' written by Timothy Williams and Andrew Sabiston is to be re-released to mark its 15th year anniversary. Originally staged in 1994 at the Elgin Theatre, Toronto - the show starred Jerome Pradon as Napoleon and Aline Mowat as Josephine.


Ken Novice Appointed Geffen Playhouse Managing Director - 6/1/2009

Ken Novice, the current managing director of the Pasadena Playhouse, will take on the role of Geffen Playhouse managing director effective June 1. Susan Barton, who assumed the interim role last June while the Geffen Playhouse conducted a search to fill the position, will work with Novice to ensure a smooth transition until Novice official takes on the title.


Lincoln Center Holds 50th Anniversary Exhibit Of Rarely-Seen List Posters - 6/1/2009

Lincoln Center begins a year long celebration of its 50th Anniversary season in May 2009, commemorating the 1959 groundbreaking of the world's leading performing arts center. To salute the institution's historic milestone, Lincoln Center at Time Warner Center, a special 50th Anniversary exhibit of approximately thirty rarely-seen works from Lincoln Center's distinguished List Poster and Print Collection, is scheduled to be displayed on the second floor public gallery space at Time Warner Center, June 1 - 21.


Milioti, Mastrogiorgio, Serralles, Rattazzi, Goldberg and Woodard Lead LTC3's 'STUNNING' - 6/1/2009

LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's new initiative devoted to producing work of emerging playwrights, directors and designers, has announced casting for STUNNING, the second production of its inaugural season. Sas Goldberg, Danny Mastrogiorgio, Cristin Milioti, Steven Rattazzi, Jeanine Serralles and Charlayne Woodard will be featured in STUNNING, a new play by David Adjmi, to be directed by Anne Kauffman. STUNNING will begin performances Monday, June 1 at 8pm, open Thursday, June 18 at 6:45pm and run through Saturday, June 27 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, (229 W. 42 Street).

Woodshed Collective has announced that its 2009 spring gala benefit S. O. Will Ferrell And Pearl Jam Headline Premiere Of 'The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien' - 6/1/2009

Will Ferrell will be the first guest on the couch for the debut of "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" on June 1. Ferrell, who helped usher O'Brien out of New York on the final "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," will help welcome O'Brien to his new home in Los Angeles. In addition Pearl Jam will be the inaugural band on Conan's "The Tonight Show." Pearl Jam will perform songs from their upcoming studio album.


UGLY BETTY Star Williams Releases 'The Real Thing' - 6/2/2009

USA TODAY reports in an interview with Vanessa Williams that the actress will be taking a break from playing Wilhelmina Slater on ABC's Ugly Betty and will get back to making musiC. Williams releases The Real Thing, on Concord Records, June 2nd.


UK Hit 'GIRLS NIGHT' Musical Plays at Sofia's Downstairs Cabaret - 6/2/2009

Entertainment Event Productions will present the Off-Broadway premiere of the smash UK hit GIRLS NIGHT: THE MUSICAL, written by Louise Roche and directed by Jack Randle. Performances will begin June 2nd, for an Opening Night on June 4th at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre at Sofia's (227 West 46th Street, next to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre). Featured in the cast are Sonya Carter, Renee Colvert, Laurie Gardner, Justine Hall, and Carly Sakalove. This limited engagement runs through July 26th.

New York Philharmonic Program Annotator and Leonard Bernstein Scholar-in-Residence James M. Keller will curate and host ?Music in Time of War,? a multimedia Insight Series event, Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 6:30 p.m., in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, Rose Building, 65th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The lecture will include musical examples that trace the relationship between composers and war over the centuries, and archival footage of Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic?s 1959 tour to the Soviet Union.

Principal Clarinet Stanley Drucker To Make Final NY Philharmonic Concerto Appearances - 6/4/2009

New York Philharmonic Principal Clarinet Stanley Drucker, who will retire from the Orchestra at the end of the 2008?09 season concluding a 60-year tenure, will give his final concerto appearances in performances of Copland?s Clarinet Concerto, conducted by Lorin Maazel, Tuesday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 6, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Drucker, who joined the New York Philharmonic at age 19 in 1948, and whose tenure encompasses one-third of the history of the 167-year-old orchestra, will have performed as soloist with the Orchestra some 200 times (both at home and abroad), and will have played in more than 10,200 concerts under nine New York Philharmonic conductors at the conclusion of his tenure.

Today, the calendar for the 2008-2009 Tony? Award season was announced. The American Theatre Wing's 63rd Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards will air on CBS on Sunday, June 7th from 8:00 - 11:00 PM (ET/PT time delay). The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing.


SLEEPWALK WITH ME Extends - 6/7/2009

Sleepwalk With Me has just announced a further extension through June 7 at The Bleecker Street Theatre (45 Bleecker Street just East of Lafayette). The show previously extended through March 22.


Spoleto Festival Presents Kneehigh's DON JOHN - 6/7/2009

International flair, exuberant creativity, and the exploration of intimate worlds are the hallmarks of the Spoleto Festival USA 2009 theater lineup. Headlining the schedule is the UK's Kneehigh Theatre, returning to Charleston with the U.S. premiere of its newest production, Don John, a sharp and sexy retelling of the Don Juan legend. Basil Twist, another festival favorite, returns to present his ingenious and mesmerizing Japanese-inspired Dogugaeshi.


Epic Theater Ensemble Presents A MORE PERFECT UNION - 6/7/2009

New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Ron Russell, Founding Executive Directors) has announced that it will present the world premiere of A More Perfect Union, a serious comedy by Vern Thiessen. Under the direction of Ron Russell, the two-character play features Melissa Friedman and Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. as Supreme Court law clerks.
