Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez began her acting career in 2002 on the children’s television series Barney & Friends, appearing until 2004 and in two related direct-to-video films. During this period, she also appeared in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003), Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire (2005), and guest-starred on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2006). In 2007, she had a recurring role on Hannah Montana and was cast as Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012), later reprising the role in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009) and The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex (2013). Her early film work also included Horton Hears a Who! (2008), Another Cinderella Story (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009), and voice roles in Arthur and the Revenge of Maltazard (2009) and its 2010 sequel. She formed the band Selena Gomez & the Scene, releasing Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011). Additional film roles included Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), and a cameo in The Muppets (2011).


Following the end of Wizards of Waverly Place in 2012, Gomez took on more film roles, including Spring Breakers (2012), Hotel Transylvania (2012), Getaway (2013), Rudderless (2014), and Behaving Badly (2014). She released her debut solo album Stars Dance (2013) and embarked on the Stars Dance Tour (2013). In 2014, she released the compilation album For You. She returned to voice acting in Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) and appeared in The Big Short (2015). Her second studio album, Revival (2015), was followed by the Revival Tour (2016). Film and television work during this period included The Fundamentals of Caring (2016), Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), and In Dubious Battle (2016), along with collaborations such as “We Don’t Talk Anymore” (2016).

From 2017 onward, Gomez released standalone singles including “It Ain’t Me” (2017), “Bad Liar” (2017), “Fetish” (2017), “Wolves” (2017), and “Back to You” (2018). She served as an executive producer on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why (2017–2020). Her film roles included The Dead Don’t Die (2019) and A Rainy Day in New York (2019), and she executive produced the docuseries Living Undocumented (2019). She released her third studio album Rare (2020) and collaborated on tracks including “Ice Cream” (2020). Additional projects included voice work in Dolittle (2020), hosting and producing Selena + Chef (2020–2023), and executive producing This Is the Year (2020) and The Broken Hearts Gallery (2020). She released the Spanish-language EP Revelación (2021) and starred in and executive produced Only Murders in the Building (2021–present). She reprised her role in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania (2022), appeared in the documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me (2022), and released singles including “Single Soon” (2023).

In 2024, Gomez starred in Emilia Pérez, co-produced and appeared in Louder: The Soundtrack of Change, and guest-starred in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (2024–2026), also serving as an executive producer and later directing. In 2025, she released the collaborative album I Said I Love You First with Benny Blanco, supported by singles including “Call Me When You Break Up,” “Sunset Blvd,” and “Ojos Tristes,” and contributed additional music such as “In the Dark” (2025).
