Phillipa Soo is best known for her lead role as Eliza in Broadway's critically acclaimed show Hamilton, which she joined shortly after its inception. For her performance, she won the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Lead Actress in a Musical and was nominated for a 2016 Tony Award. Soo can be seen portraying Eliza in the recording of Hamilton on Disney+. After graduating from Juilliard in 2012, Soo was cast as Natasha Rostova in the Ars Nova and Off-Broadway production of Dave Malloy's Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. In 2007, Soo originated the title role in the Broadway production of Amelie. Most recently, Soo appeared on Broadway in The Parisian Woman, which ran from November 2017 to March 2018.
Additional theatre credits include Cinderella in Into the Woods, Brown in Guys and Dolls (The Kennedy Center)
In 2013 she was cast in a small recurring role in the NBC television series Smash as the character Lexi. Phillipa Soo has written a children's book! The Broadway actress, best known for starring as Eliza in Hamilton, is teaming up with her sister-in-law Maris Pasquale Doran and acclaimed illustrator Qin Leng to created this story, said to be inspired by Soo's childhood experiences.

She received a nomination for Outstanding Featured Performance in a Musical at the Drama Desk Awards for her role in "Into the Woods." She was also nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award at the Drama League Awards for her performance in "Camelot." Soo's most notable nomination came at the Tony Awards, where she was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her portrayal of Eliza Hamilton in "Hamilton." She also received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical at The Lortels for both "Hamilton" and "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812." Additionally, Soo was a finalist for the Theatre Finalists award and received another Distinguished Performance Award at the Drama League Awards for her role in "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812."
