Cheyenne Jackson has appeared in numerous regional theater productions, including West Side Story, The Most Happy Fella, Children of Eden, Hair, Carousel, Damn Yankees, The Rocky Horror Show, and Kismet. He made his Broadway debut understudying in Thoroughly Modern Millie and later served as standby for Aida. In 2005, he originated the role of Chad in All Shook Up, earning a Theatre World Award and nominations from the Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Awards. In 2007, he assumed the lead role in Xanadu on Broadway, receiving Drama League and Drama Desk nominations. He appeared in Encores! productions of Damn Yankees (2008) and Finian’s Rainbow (2009), reprising Finian’s Rainbow on Broadway in 2009–2010 and recording the cast album.
Jackson appeared on Broadway in 8 (2011) and starred off-Broadway in The Heart of the Matter (2012). He appeared in The Performers (2012) and in the 25th Anniversary Concert of The Secret Garden (2016). In 2019, he performed in Into the Woods at the Hollywood Bowl and reprised the roles in the 2022 Broadway revival. In 2024, he appeared in Once Upon a Mattress at New York City Center and in La Cage aux Folles at the Pasadena Playhouse. In 2025, he joined the Broadway production of Oh, Mary!.
In film, Jackson portrayed Mark Bingham in United 93 (2006). His other film credits include Curiosity (2005), Hysteria (2010), Smile (2011), The Green (2011), Price Check (2012), Lola Versus (2012), Behind the Candelabra (2013), Mutual Friends (2013), Lucky Stiff (2014), Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks (2014), A Beautiful Now (2015), and Descendants 3 (2019).
On television, Jackson had a recurring role on 30 Rock (2009–2013) and appeared on Glee (2010). He guest-starred on series including Law & Order (2010), Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sense8, and American Horror Story (Seasons 5–8). Since 2020, he has co-starred in the Fox comedy series Call Me Kat. In 2022, he competed on The Masked Singer, finishing in third place.
In music, Jackson released the album I’m Blue, Skies (2013) and the album Renaissance (2016). He released singles including “Drive” (2012), “Before You” (2012), “She’s Pretty, She Lies” (2013), “Look at Me” (2013), “I’m Blue, Skies” (2013), and “Don’t Wanna Know” (2015). He has also performed in concert engagements at Carnegie Hall (2010, 2011) and the Kennedy Center (2012).
