Ragtime in Broadway RAGTIME
The Ogunquit Playhouse
AUG 2 - AUG 26 At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing... and anything is possible. This sweeping musical portrait of early twentieth-century America tells the story of three families in the pursuit of the American Dream. Set in the volatile melting pot of turn-of-the-century New York, three distinctly American tales are woven together – that of a stifled upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician – united by their courage, compassion and belief in the promise of the future. Together, they confront history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair... and what it means to live in America. Written by the award-winning composer/lyricist team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally, and based on E.L. Doctorow's distinguished novel, Ragtime is the winner of three 1998 Tony Awards for Best Score, Book and Orchestrations, and both the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical and Best Score. Called by Time Magazine “a triumph for the stage,” “Intoxicating” by the Associated Press, and "Explosive and thrilling!” by Bloomberg News, this acclaimed musical is filled with pageantry, emotion and hope, bursting onto the stage like no other musical. Henry IV in Broadway HENRY IV
Opera House Arts
War is coming. It’s been a year since Henry IV gained his throne, and the King is not having an easy time of it. Rebellion is brewing: his former allies have banded together with some of his worst enemies and are working against him. Not only that, but his heir, Hal, is happiest hanging out in taverns with petty thieves, drunkards, and the gloriously dissolute Falstaff. Shuttling between dingy alehouse and cloistered court, HENRY IV chronicles Prince Hal’s moving journey as a prodigal son who must learn to become a man and a king. This production, laced with live music, dance and furious battle scenes, features six actors playing more than thirty roles in a fast-paced adaptation of the Bard’s most popular play during his lifetime.

The Boys Next Door in Broadway THE BOYS NEXT DOOR
Some Theatre Company
Barry thinks hes a golf pro. Norman cant stop eating doughnuts. Arnold has decided hes going to move to Russia and Lucien is concerned that they dont have any trees. Written with extraordinary humor and compassion, The Boys Next Door, by Tom Griffin, is a delightful and touching picture of life, friendship and challenges. The four "boys" always "tell it like it is," they don't need anyone to tell them how or when to express their feelings. In this time of cynicism, there is an honesty and sincerity about these men that will stay with you long after the play ends. Filled with hilarity, the play is also marked by a deep care and understanding as it touchingly communicates that these four men are just like everybody else who just wants to love and be loved while finding some meaning and purpose in their lives.
