"At Ann Taylor, we believe behind every great woman is another, and another," said Holly Tedesco, VP of Marketing, Ann Taylor. "That spirit of collaboration is what brought Waitress to life and shattered Broadway's glass ceiling. With this partnership, we want to shine a light on these women and how they inspire us. Over the coming months, we'll share stories of women who are joining together to do what they love. These are the co-creators and innovators that are redefining the way we work today."

As part of the program, Ann Taylor will make a donation to the Adrienne Shelly Foundation and its mission to support women filmmakers. The Foundation was created following the death of Adrienne Shelly, who wrote, directed and acted in the 2007 film Waitress. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded 60+ production grants to women all over the world.

Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town's new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow Waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This new American musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie. The recipient of four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Waitress is the first Broadway musical in history to have four women in the four top creative team spots, with a book by Jessie Nelson, a score by five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus. The Chicago Tribune called it "An empowering musical of the highest order."

Ann Taylor began in 1954 with a dress and a dream. When Richard Liebeskind opened his first shop in New Haven, CT, he named it "Ann Taylor" after the best-selling dress style in his father's own store. That dress represented his vision of the modern, stylish American woman. With that vision, Ann Taylor has grown to an iconic brand with over 200 stores across North America. As the American woman has evolved, so have we, staying one step ahead to bring her a wardrobe of possibilities. She lives a rich and varied life, and we strive to bring her thoughtful style options for big days and everydays. With a sophisticated, feminine approach to modern essentials, we promise to give her the inspiration and confidence she needs to do what she loves.
