Lincoln Center's LCT3 To Present Healy's WHAT ONCE WE FELT - 11/21/2009

LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's new initiative devoted to producing work of emerging playwrights, directors and designers, will present the world premiere of WHAT ONCE WE FELT, a new play by Ann Marie Healy, directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, as the first of three productions during the 2009-2010 season. WHAT ONCE WE FELT will be presented Monday, October 26 through Saturday, November 21 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, (229 W. 42 Street). The second and third LCT3 productions, to be announced, are scheduled for Spring 2010 and will also be presented at The Duke on 42nd Street.


Retro Productions Season Kicks Off With HOLY DAYS - 11/21/2009

Staying true to its mission to present 'retro theater,' Retro Productions is proud to announce its 2009 - 2010 season! Retro's 5th Birthday season kicks off with their fall production: the depression-era tale Holy Days by Sally Nemeth. In spring 2010, Retro Productions will present the classic 1950's office comedy William Marchant's The Desk Set. The 2009 - 2010 season marks Retro's third season in residence at The Spoon Theater.

Odyssey Theatre's THE RECEPTIONIST, Starring Megan Mullally - 11/21/2009

Odyssey Theatre's production of Adam Bock's The Receptionist, starring Emmy-winning actress and singer Megan Mullally, has announced an extension of its run. The production, which began previews August 5 and officially opened August 15, was originally scheduled to close September 20. The show will now close November 21.

Michel Legrand Returns to Lincoln Center, Dionne Warwick to Guest Star - 11/21/2009

Following a sold-out Canadian tour, Michel Legrand returns to New York for a special one-night engagement at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center on Saturday, November 21st at 8PM. The multiple Oscar and Grammy-winning pianist and composer will be joined by French singing sensation Mario Pelchat. Five-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick is the special guest star. The trio will be accompanied by a quartet of musicians, including Catherine Michel, the harp soloist at Opera de Paris, for a night of classical film scores by Maestro Legrand, as well as jazz and Hollywood hits, built around the romance and nostalgia of French ‘chanson.'

Dick Clark productions President Orly Adelson announced today that Jay-Z will perform at the 2009 American Music Awards. This marks Jay-Z's second time performing on the American Music Awards. He has been nominated in the Rap/Hip-Hop category six times, including this year's nominations for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album. Jay-Z will join the previously announced Alicia Keys in a special collaborative act. They join an already outstanding lineup of artists announced at this week's AMA nominations press conference including The Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert. Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty", "The Tempermentals") is headlining a reading of Brian Sloan's "WTC View" on November 22nd at the historic Player's Theatre in Greenwich Village. The play was originally staged as part of the 2003 NY Intl. Fringe Festival , with Urie originating the lead role. It was adapted into a 2006 film, directed by Sloan, a New York-based writer/filmmaker ("Boys Life", "I Think I Do"). Now, the play is back on stage with its eye on a 2011 production in New York City for the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

FELA! Set For Broadway's O'Neill - 11/23/2009

Fela!, the critically acclaimed musical that had audiences on their feet during its world premiere last summer at Off-Broadway's 37 Arts, will arrive on Broadway this fall where it begins performances at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre (230 West 49th Street) on Monday, October 19. The official opening is set for Monday, November 23. This new musical, based on the life of groundbreaking African composer, performer and activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is directed and choreographed by Tony® Award-winner Bill T. Jones (Spring Awakening), with a book by Jim Lewis and Bill T. Jones. Sahr Ngaujah will return in the title role for which he received universal acclaim, while the world renowned Antibalas and other members of the NYC Afrobeat community, under the direction of AaRon Johnson, will again perform Kuti?s rousing music live onstage.
