Daniel Sullivan has received numerous prestigious awards and recognition throughout his directing career. He won the Outstanding Director award at The Lortels for Stuff Happens, Proof, and The Substance of Fire. He also earned a Direction award from the Obie Awards for Stuff Happens. Sullivan's most prominent accolade is his Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for Proof. Additionally, he received the Founders Award for Excellence in Directing from the Drama League Awards. His work on Dinner with Friends earned him Outstanding Director of a Play honors from the Outer Critics Circle Awards and Outstanding Director - Play recognition from the Drama Desk Awards. Sullivan was also recognized by the Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Director of a Play for A Moon for the Misbegotten. His direction of The Sisters Rosensweig garnered him two awards: Outstanding Director - Play from the Drama Desk Awards and Best Director - Play from the Outer Critics Circle Awards.
