Railed against as a sacrilegious outrage by the Church, Molière’s Tartuffe was banned by Louise XIV in 1664. A comic masterpiece, it is regarded as one of the funniest plays ever written. The production of Tartuffe provides the perfect vehicle for the Actors’ Gang signature style of Commedia del’Arte and biting social commentary.

In her work as a music historian and keyboard player at Cornell University, Annette Richards draws on her training in English literature, art history, musicology and musical performance. Richards specializes in music of the Italian and North German Baroque, and has played concerts on numerous historic and modern instruments in Europe and the United States. Her CD, Melchior Schildt and the North German Organ Art (on The Loft label), was recorded on the historic organ at Roskilde Cathedral, Denmark.
