BIO

Uma Thurman made her Broadway debut in The Parisian Woman. She is best known for her portrayal of Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino's critically lauded Pulp Fiction, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the cult classic. Thurman also garnered Golden Globe Award nominations for her role of "The Bride" in the Kill Bill film franchise. Thurman earned a Golden Globe Award for Hysterical Blindness, in which she starred and produced, and her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Dramatic Series on NBC's series "Smash." Thurman ventured into television in 2012, when she joined the cast of the drama series in its first season, portraying the five-episode role of Rebecca Duvall, a Hollywood actress who wants to star in a new Broadway musical, despite having limited musical ability.

She was previously seen on stage in New York in The Misanthrope at Classic Stage Company in 1999. Her TV and film accolades include Bravo's "Imposters," NBC's miniseries "The Slap," Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac: Vol. 1, The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen, Dangerous Liaisons, Henry & June, Beautiful Girls, Batman & Robin, Les Miserables, Sweet and Lowdown, Prime with Meryl Streep, Be Cool and The Producers. Thurman recently completed production on various films including Lars Von Trier's The House That Jack Built, The Brits Are Coming and Down a Dark Hall. She will also star opposite Robert De Niro in Tim Hil's The War with Grandpa. Born in Massachusetts, Thurman currently lives in New York City with her three children.

In 2019, Thurman performed the role of Helene Alving in a revival of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Review: W71 at Williamstown Theatre Festival
by Marc Savitt - Jul 23, 2025

Due to scheduling conflicts, I was able to avail myself of only a small sampling of the W71 events during the first weekend of programming. We attended a performance of MANY HAPPY RETURNS at 11am and Tennessee Williams’ CAMINO REAL at 2pm. We had time between to enjoy lunch and a bit of shopping on Spring Street. The performances were very well done, a bit non-traditional, and without a doubt up to the long standing and well-established standards / expectations associated with the WTF. Bravo to all involved in the resurrection of this Phoenix from the Ashes. Although, admittedly once skeptical (I am a former New Yorker) I am happy to highly recommend immersion in the newly re-imagined Williamstown Theatre Festival. You will have to move quickly though as W71 runs only through August 3. That said, I am already looking forward to what W72 will bring us in the Summer of 2026.
