With Thanksgiving behind us, the holidays have officially arrived, and Broadway fans have lots to stream this merry season, including new movies, specials, along with numerous old favorites.

Among the new streaming titles are two original Christmas movies from Netflix. Jingle Bell Heist, now available, is a romantic comedy featuring Olivia Holt, who played Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago. 

Kate Winslet is making her directorial debut with Goodbye June, a family dramedy set just before Christmas. Winslet also stars, alongside a packed cast that includes West End alum Johnny Flynn (The Motive and the Cue), and Tony Award winner Helen Mirren as the family matriarch.

Other notable titles include A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, a new special starring the Jonas Brothers alongside Broadway alums Andrew Barth Feldman (as Ethan), Andrea Martin (as Deb) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (as Santa). And Jim Henson fans are in luck with The First Snow of Fraggle Rock, a new special that brings Gobo into the human world during the holiday season.

Netflix

Jingle Bell Heist

This new romantic comedy follows Sophia (Broadway alum Olivia Holt), a sharp-witted retail worker, and Nick (Connor Swindells), a down-on-his-luck repairman. Together, the pair are small-time thieves with their eyes on the same Christmas Eve score: robbing London’s most notorious department store. Forced into an uneasy alliance, as secrets surface and feelings for each other deepen, Sophia and Nick put their relationship and the heist in jeopardy. Watch it here.

Goodbye June (December 24)

Goodbye June is a family drama set just before Christmas, when an unexpected turn in their mother’s health (Helen Mirren) thrusts four adult siblings and their exasperating father into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics in the face of potential loss. The star-studded cast includes Tony Award nominee Toni Collette (The Wild Party), West End alum Johnny Flynn (The Motive and the Cue), Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Kate Winslet, and Tony Award winner Helen Mirren

The Merry Gentleman

Starring Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray, this film follows a former big-city dancer who decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue in an effort to save her parents’ small-town performing venue, the Rhythm Room. The Merry Gentlemen features a significant amount of actual dancing from the ensemble, which includes Broadway performer Cole Prattes. Our Little Secret

This holiday movie follows Lindsay Lohan's Avery, who goes home with her boyfriend to meet his family for the holidays. However, upon her arrival, she learns that her boyfriend's sister is dating her ex-boyfriend, and is now forced to spend Christmas with him. Tony-winner Kristen Chenoweth plays Erica, the outspoken matriarch of the family. Watch it here.

Last Christmas

Based on the song of the same name by Wham!, Last Christmas is a romantic comedy about a Christmas store worker who falls in love with a mysterious man during Christmastime. The movie stars Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Emma Thompson, with Tony winner Patti LuPone and Wicked star Michelle Yeoh rounding out the cast. That Christmas

That Christmas is an animated film from Richard Curtis that follows a series of entwined tales about love and loneliness, family and friends, and Santa Claus making a big mistake. The cast features the voices of Olivier Award winners Brian Cox and Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, Katherine Parkinson, and more. Watch it here.

A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter 

It’s a nonsense holiday and we’re so here for it. In this special with musical guests, pop icon Sabrina Carpenter will perform songs from her holiday EP fruitcake and other iconic chart-topping holiday covers. This special will also feature show-stopping music performances, comedic guests, unexpected duets, plus many more surprises and fun cameos from Shania Twain, Chappell Roan, and more. Watch it here.

A Very Murray Christmas

A Very Murray Christmas is an homage to the classic variety show featuring Bill Murray playing himself, as he worries no one will show up to his TV show due to a terrible snowstorm in New York City. The star-studded cast also includes George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, the band Phoenix, Rashida Jones, Miley Cyrus, and more. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Starring Phylicia Rashad, Forest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key, Anika Noni Rose, and more, this movie musical adventure features original songs by John Legend, Philip Lawrence, and Davy Nathan. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey reminds us of the strength of family and the power of possibility. Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

Featuring the voices of Luke Evans, Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley, Fra Fee, and more, Charles Dickens’ ageless legend is reborn in this supernatural, time-traveling, musical adaptation of the definitive Christmas story. Watch it here.

Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square

The charming movie musical starring Dolly Parton, Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason, and Josh Segarra is directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen, and features 14 original songs by Dolly Parton. Watch it here.

Single All the Way 

Michael Urie stars in this new Netflix rom-com as he convinces his Best Friend to come home for the holidays with him to pretend to be his boyfriend. The film also stars Kathy Najimy and Jennifer Robertson. Watch the movie here.


Disney+

A Very Jonas Christmas Movie

In the festive film, Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas face a series of escalating obstacles as they struggle to make it from London to New York in time to spend Christmas with their families. The movie features an all-star cast, including Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas, who star as themselves, along with Broadway alums Andrew Barth Feldman (as Ethan), Andrea Martin (as Deb) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (as Santa). The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular (December 1)

Hosted by Derek Hough, this concert special will feature new musical performances from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawaiʻi from Tony winner Nicole ScherzingerCoco Jones, Gwen Stefani, and Trisha Yearwood, and more.

Dancing with the Holidays (December 3)

The ballroom comes alive with holiday magic as "Dancing with the Stars" celebrates the season with festive-themed routines, dazzling musical performances and special holiday greetings.

An Almost Christmas Story

This animated short follows Moon, a curious young owl who unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a Christmas tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza. Directed by David Lowery, the film features original tracks “It’s Christmas Today” and “The Spirit of Christmas” performed by Tony Award nominee John C. Reilly. Watch it here.

Arendelle Castle Yule Log

The Sound of Music

The 1965 classic, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, is the beloved film based on the stage musical from Rodgers & Hammerstein. It follows Maria, a former nun who falls in love with Captain von Trapp after becoming a governess for his seven children. The movie won 5 Oscars upon its initial release, including Best Picture. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas

This holiday musical, based on a story by Tim Burton, has become a cult classic since its debut in 1993. The movie follows Jack Skellington, the mayor of Halloween Town who becomes transfixed with the Christmas holiday. Featuring stop-motion animation and original songs by Danny Elfman, the voice cast includes Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara, and Drama Desk Award-winner Ken Page. Watch it here.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical

Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier”) brings Ebenezer Scrooge to life in this television musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic tale. During a Christmas Eve dream that evolves into nightmarish proportions, embittered and miserly Scrooge is visited by three Christmas Ghosts: Past, Present, and Future, who show him the life he has lived and the future consequences of that life. Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas

The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland

This animated musical follows St. Nick after he receives a delayed letter on Christmas Eve from the Princess of Hearts. The First Snow of Fraggle Rock (December 5)

Gobo, Red, Wembley, Mokey, and Boober Fraggle are back for the holiday season. In the new Fraggle Rock holiday special, The Fraggles eagerly await the first snow of the season and all the traditions it brings, but when only a single snowflake arrives and Gobo can’t write the yearly holiday song everyone is expecting, the season is thrown off course. The special features Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia and a cameo appearance by musical artist and internet sensation Lele Pons.

Spirited

Apple's holiday movie musical is the first time "A Christmas Carol" is told from the perspective of the ghosts in this hilarious musical twist on the classic Dickens tale. With original music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the film features Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Octavia Spencer, Patrick Page, Joe Tippett, and more. Watch here.

Hannah Waddingham: Home For the Holidays

Recorded live at The Coliseum in London, one of London’s oldest and most beautiful theaters, the one-hour special will feature Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham ringing in the season with musical performances of beloved Christmas classics. Genie

Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol

Based on the classic story by Charles Dickens, Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol features a score by Funny Girl's songwriting team, composer Jule Styne and lyricist Bob Merrill. The musical is a retelling of the Dickens classic, featuring the comically myopic cartoon character Quincy Magoo. Originally aired in December 1962, Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol was the first animated holiday special ever produced specifically for television. Watch it here.

Scrooge

Based on the Charles Dickens novel, this showstopping adaptation stars Albert Finney as Scrooge and original musical numbers by Leslie Bricusse like "Father Christmas" and "Thank You Very Much." The 1970 film was later adapted for the stage and remade as an animated movie for Netflix in 2022. Watch it here.

Matt Rogers: Have You Heard of Christmas?

This holiday extravaganza, written and performed by Matt Rogers (Las Culturistas), was filmed at Joe's Pub and sees the comedian perform musical numbers and comedy and sketch comedy that tie into the season. Special guests include Bowen Yang and Josh Sharp. Watch it here.
