BIO
Rob Howell has designed sets and costumes extensively in the theatre and opera in the UK and abroad including at The Royal Court, The Donmar Warehouse, The Old Vic, The National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal Opera House and The Metropolitan Opera and on Broadway. He has received numerous Olivier and Tony nominations, including a current Olivier nomination for The Ferryman, and was awarded Oliviers for Best Set Designer in the years 2000, 2006 and 2012 and a Tony for Best Set Designer in 2013.

Rob Howell has won several prestigious awards across his career. He received the Outstanding Scenic Design from the Outer Critics Circle Awards for A Christmas Carol. For the same production, he earned the Tony Awards for Best Costume Design of a Play and Best Scenic Design of a Play. He also won Tony Awards for Best Costume Design of a Play and Best Scenic Design of a Play for The Ferryman. His work on Matilda was recognized with the Best Scenic Design award from the BroadwayWorld Awards and the Best Set Design award from the Olivier Awards for Matilda The Musical. Additionally, he won Olivier Awards for Best Set Design for both Hedda Gabler and Richard III. Howell’s excellence was further acknowledged with Evening Standard Awards for Best Designer for Richard III, Troilus and Cressida, and Vassa.
