Jamie Parker

Parker originated the role of Scripps in Alan Bennett's The History Boys. He was involved with the production from its first reading, initially reading Rudge before taking on Scripps in the original London stage production. He subsequently appeared in The History Boys in productions in London, Broadway, Sydney, Wellington and Hong Kong, as well as its radio and film versions. He also appeared in The Revenger's Tragedy at the National Theatre in 2008.

His early theatre credits include After the Dance (2002), playing Peter at Oxford Playhouse; The Coffee House (2003), playing Eugenio at Chichester Festival Theatre; Holes in the Skin (2003), playing Dominic; The Gondoliers (2003), playing Giuseppe Palmieri; Between the Crosses (2003), playing Ian at Jermyn Street Theatre; and Singer (2004), in which he played various roles at the Tricycle Theatre. From 2004 to 2006, he played Scripps in The History Boys at the Royal National Theatre's Lyttelton Theatre, as well as in productions in Hong Kong, Wellington, Sydney and Broadway.

In 2008, Parker played Hippolito in The Revenger's Tragedy at the Olivier Theatre at the Royal National Theatre. In 2009, he played Oliver in As You Like It at Shakespeare's Globe and portrayed Thomas Jefferson and Timothy Matlack in A New World: A Life of Thomas Paine. In 2010, he played Paul Peplow in My Zinc Bed at the Royal Theatre in Northampton, as well as Prince Hal in both Henry IV, Part 1 and Henry IV, Part 2 at Shakespeare's Globe.

In 2011, Parker played Rev. Tony Ferris in Racing Demon at Sheffield Crucible and Guildenstern in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at Chichester Festival Theatre and Theatre Royal Haymarket. In 2012, he played Henry V in Henry V at Shakespeare's Globe and Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at West Yorkshire Playhouse. In 2013, he played Hal in Proof at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Reverend James Morell in Candida at Theatre Royal, Bath.

In 2014, Parker played Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls at Chichester Festival Theatre and The Balladeer and Lee Harvey Oswald in Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory. In 2015, he played Count Carl Magnus in a concert production of A Little Night Music at the Palace Theatre in London and Mike in High Society at the Old Vic. He also played Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls at London's Savoy Theatre from 2015 to 2016, earning a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

From 2016 to 2017, Parker originated the role of Harry Potter in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at London's Palace Theatre. He won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Play in 2017. He reprised the role on Broadway at the Lyric Theatre in 2018 and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play.

In 2023, Parker played Benjamin Button in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at Southwark Playhouse in London. Later that year, he played Dan Goodman in the Donmar Warehouse production of Next to Normal, reprising the role for its West End transfer in 2024. From 2025 to 2026, he played The Baker in Into the Woods at the Bridge Theatre and received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical.

Parker's Shakespeare credits include Oliver in As You Like It (2009), Prince Hal in Henry IV, Part 1 (2010) and Henry IV, Part 2 (2010), and Henry V in Henry V (2012). He also appeared in two episodes of Shakespeare Uncovered (2012), portraying Richard II and Prince Hal/Henry V. In 2014, he played Hamlet in a BBC Radio 4 production of Hamlet. In 2018, he played Mark Antony in a BBC Radio 4 production of Julius Caesar.

His radio credits include Life Class (2007), playing Paul Tarrant in 10 episodes for BBC Radio 4; Doctor Who - Leviathan (2010), playing Wulfric in two episodes for Big Finish; Frankenstein (2012), playing Victor Frankenstein in two BBC Radio 4 episodes; Pride and Prejudice (2014), playing Mr. Darcy in three BBC Radio 4 episodes; Hamlet (2014), playing Hamlet, Prince of Denmark in five episodes for BBC Radio 4; and Hall of Mirrors (2022), playing John Maynard Keynes in one BBC Radio 4 episode.

Parker's television credits include American Experience (2007), playing Philip Hamilton in the PBS episode "Alexander Hamilton"; Maxwell (2007), playing Farquhar in the BBC television film; and Silent Witness (2007), playing Alan Peters in the BBC episodes "Hippocratic Oath." He appeared in Horne and Corden (2009) on BBC, Van Gogh: Painted with Words (2010) as Theo van Gogh, The Hour (2011) as Peter Darrall, Silk (2012) as Captain Cassidy, and Shakespeare Uncovered (2012) as himself and Richard II in the Derek Jacobi episode and as Prince Hal/Henry V in the Jeremy Irons episode. He also appeared as Brownlie in Parade's End (2012).

In 2014, Parker played Ben Morgan in Silent Witness and Dr. Matthew Copley-Barnes in Endeavour. In 2015, he played an aide in Count Arthur Strong, Grant in Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, and himself in the BBC Proms' Late Night Sinatra. In 2020, he played Allan Green QC in Des. He played John Dudley in Becoming Elizabeth (2022), Robin Janvrin in The Crown (2023), Dr. Huston in Masters of the Air (2024), and David in Ride or Die (2026).

Parker's film credits include Scripps in The History Boys (2006), Werner von Haeften in Valkyrie (2008), Mike in Dirty Weekend (2013), an estate agent in The Lady in the Van (2015), and Lieutenant Richards in 1917 (2019). He also appeared in the film adaptation of The History Boys in 2006 and in The Lady in the Van alongside other members of the original The History Boys cast.
