Anthony Ramos

Ramos began his acting career in 2011, earning roles in regional and touring musical productions. In 2012, he portrayed Usnavi de la Vega in a production of In the Heights. In 2014, he performed in Heart and Lights at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes. That same year, he appeared as Justin Laboy in Lin-Manuel Miranda's 21 Chump Street, a 14-minute musical performed once on June 7, 2014, and recorded for This American Life.

In 2015, Ramos originated the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the off-Broadway production of Hamilton at The Public Theater. The musical transferred to Broadway later that year, opening on Aug. 6, 2015. Ramos remained with the production until Nov. 20, 2016. He also appeared on the original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton in 2015.

In 2016, Ramos was cast as Mars Blackmon in Spike Lee's Netflix comedy-drama series She's Gotta Have It. In 2017, he reunited with Lin-Manuel Miranda as a vocalist on the song "Almost Like Praying," released to benefit victims of Hurricane Maria. He also performed in an Arts in the Armed Forces production in Japan in 2017.

Ramos portrayed Ramon in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, directed by Bradley Cooper and starring Cooper and Lady Gaga. In 2018, he was cast as Usnavi de la Vega in the film adaptation of In the Heights, which was released in 2021.

In 2023, Ramos starred in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the next installment of the Transformers film franchise. In 2022, he was cast as Parker Robbins/The Hood in the Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming series Ironheart. In 2024, he appeared in the film Twisters and was cast as the lead voice role in an animated Bob the Builder film.

Ramos also has a recording career. His first solo EP, The Freedom EP, was released in 2018 and included the songs "Freedom," "Common Ground," "When The Bell Tolls" and "PRayer." In 2019, he signed with Republic Records and released his debut album, The Good & The Bad, on Oct. 25. The album reached No. 21 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. His second album, Love and Lies, was released by Republic Records on June 25, 2021, and reached No. 36 on the Billboard 200.
