Austin Butler

Austin Butler (born August 17, 1991) is an American actor whose work spans television, film, and the stage. Known for his immersive performances, he has received a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe Award, along with nominations for an Academy Award, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2023, he was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world.

Butler began his career in television, appearing on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon series before taking on more prominent roles in teen dramas, including recurring appearances on Life Unexpected and Switched at Birth. He later starred in series such as The Carrie Diaries and The Shannara Chronicles, steadily building a profile as a leading television actor.

His film breakthrough came with a supporting role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Butler achieved international recognition for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, a performance that earned him major awards recognition, including BAFTA and Golden Globe wins and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He has since appeared in projects such as the miniseries Masters of the Air, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, and Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing.

In addition to his screen work, Butler has appeared on stage, making his Broadway debut in the revival of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh.
