After graduating from Juilliard, Adam Driver appeared in Broadway and off-Broadway productions and in television series and short films. He appeared in the final episode of The Unusuals and made his film debut in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar (2011).
In 2012, Driver began starring in the HBO series Girls, earning three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. That year, he appeared in Lincoln (2012) and Frances Ha (2012), and starred in Not Waving But Drowning (2012) and Gayby (2012). He received the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for Look Back in Anger. In 2013, he appeared in Bluebird (2013), What If (2013), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), and Tracks (2013). In 2014, he starred in Hungry Hearts (2014), winning the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the Venice International Film Festival, and appeared in While We’re Young (2014) and This Is Where I Leave You (2014).
Driver was cast as Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), reprising the role in The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). In 2016, he appeared in Midnight Special (2016), Silence (2016), and Paterson (2016), winning the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Actor for Paterson. In 2017, he appeared in The Meyerowitz Stories (2017) and Logan Lucky (2017). In 2018, he starred in BlacKkKlansman (2018), receiving Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actor, and appeared in The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (2018).
In 2019, Driver starred in The Report (2019), returned to Broadway in Burn This (2019), earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play, and appeared in The Dead Don’t Die (2019). He also starred in Marriage Story (2019), receiving nominations for the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. In 2020, he hosted Saturday Night Live. In 2021, he starred in Annette (2021), The Last Duel (2021), and House of Gucci (2021). In 2022, he starred in White Noise (2022).
Driver starred in 65 (2023) and portrayed Enzo Ferrari in Ferrari (2023). He hosted Saturday Night Live again in 2023. In 2024, he starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis (2024) and returned to off-Broadway in Hold On to Me Darling (2024). In 2025, he appeared in Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother (2025). His upcoming projects include Yankee Commandante, Paper Tiger, Misty Green, and Alone at Dawn.
