BIO

Tina Fey began her career in Chicago, performing with Improv Olympic in 1993 and The Second City, where she appeared in the revue Paradigm Lost. In 1997, she joined Saturday Night Live as a writer. She became head writer in 1999 and began appearing as a performer and co-anchor of Weekend Update in 2000, first alongside Jimmy Fallon and later Amy Poehler. Fey left Saturday Night Live in 2006 after serving as a writer, performer and Weekend Update anchor. She later returned to host and make guest appearances, including appearances in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2021. She also hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live UK in 2026.


Fey made her feature film debut in Martin & Orloff in 2002. She wrote and starred in Mean Girls in 2004 and appeared in Artie Lange's Beer League in 2006 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters in 2007. In 2008, she starred with Amy Poehler in Baby Mama. She subsequently provided an English-language voice role in Ponyo and appeared in The Invention of Lying in 2009. Her film credits in 2010 included Date Night and the animated film Megamind.

In 2013, Fey starred in Admission, followed by This Is Where I Leave You in 2014. She narrated Monkey Kingdom and starred in Sisters in 2015. In 2016, she starred in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. She had a supporting role in Wine Country in 2019 and voiced 22 in Pixar's Soul in 2020. She reprised the character in the short film 22 vs. Earth in 2021. In 2023, she starred in Maggie Moore(s) and A Haunting in Venice. In 2024, she wrote, produced and starred in the film adaptation of Mean Girls, reprising her role as Ms. Sharon Norbury.

Fey created and starred in 30 Rock, which premiered in 2006 and ran through 2013. She also served as a writer and producer on the series. In 2015, she co-created and executive produced Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with Robert Carlock and appeared in the series as Marcia Clark and, beginning in the second season, psychiatrist Andrea Bayden. The series concluded in 2019 and returned for an interactive special in 2020.

Fey co-executive produced and appeared as Diana St. Tropez on the NBC sitcom Great News in 2017. She co-created, wrote and executive produced Mr. Mayor, which premiered in 2021. She also executive produced Girls5eva, which premiered in 2021, and had a guest role in the series. That year, she began a recurring role as Cinda Canning on Only Murders in the Building. Fey executive produced and voiced Dr. Farrah Braun in the animated series Mulligan, which premiered in 2023.

In 2025, Fey created and starred in the Netflix series The Four Seasons with Tracey Wigfield and Lang Fisher. The series was renewed for a second season, scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Fey's other television credits include guest appearances on Sesame Street in 2007, iCarly in 2012, Inside Amy Schumer in 2015, Maya & Marty and Difficult People in 2016, and guest voice roles on SpongeBob SquarePants and Phineas and Ferb. She also co-hosted the Golden Globe Awards with Amy Poehler in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2021.

In theater, Fey performed with Rachel Dratch in the Off Broadway production Dratch & Fey in 2000. She adapted Mean Girls into a stage musical, which opened on Broadway in 2018. She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical for the production.

Fey also provided voice work for the video games Medieval Madness in 1997 and Deer Avenger 2: Deer in the City in 1999. In 2011, she released the autobiography Bossypants and narrated the radio documentary The Secret Life of Girls. In 2012, she appeared on Childish Gambino's mixtape Royalty.
