From 2007 to 2008, Demi Lovato starred as Charlotte Adams on the Disney Channel short series As the Bell Rings. In 2008, she played Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock. The film’s soundtrack debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, and her single “This Is Me” peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. That year, she released her debut studio album, Don't Forget (2008), which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold by the RIAA. Its singles included “Get Back,” “La La Land,” and “Don’t Forget.”


In 2009, Lovato began starring as Sonny Munroe on the Disney Channel series Sonny with a Chance (2009–2010). She also appeared in the Disney Channel film Princess Protection Program (2009). Her second studio album, Here We Go Again (2009), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold. The title track peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2010, she reprised her role in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and released soundtrack material for the project. She departed Sonny with a Chance in 2010.

Lovato released her third studio album, Unbroken, in 2011. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold. Its lead single, “Skyscraper,” debuted at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Give Your Heart a Break” peaked at number 16 and was certified multi-Platinum. In 2012, she became a judge on the U.S. version of The X Factor for seasons two and three.

Her fourth studio album, Demi, was released in 2013 and debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. The single “Heart Attack” peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. She appeared in four episodes of Glee (2013–2014) and released the book Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year (2013). In 2014, her version of “Let It Go” was featured on the soundtrack of Frozen and was certified multi-Platinum.

Lovato’s fifth studio album, Confident, was released in 2015, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, and was certified Platinum. It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. The singles “Cool for the Summer” and “Confident” achieved multi-Platinum certifications. In 2017, she released her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum. The single “Sorry Not Sorry” peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 5× Platinum.

In 2020, Lovato returned to acting in Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and guest-starred on Will & Grace. She released her seventh studio album, Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over, in 2021, which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. In 2022, she released her eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, which debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Rock Albums chart. In 2023, she released the remix album Revamped.

In 2024, Lovato co-directed and starred in the documentary Child Star, which was released on Hulu. In 2025, she starred in the film Tow, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival. She released her ninth studio album, It's Not That Deep, in October 2025; it debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200. She is scheduled to begin the It’s Not That Deep Tour in April 2026.
