Review: Beczala and Golovatenko Make Met’s CHENIER a Memorable Night under Rustioni
by Richard Sasanow - November 26, 2025
For those of us who like verismo opera—combining the raw emotions of everyday people with historical splendor—but have heard one too many BOHEMEs, TOSCAs, TURANDOTs and BUTTERFLYs in this lifetime, noting Giordano’s ANDREA CHENIER in the Met’s repertoire for this season seemed like a godsend. Not seen in these parts since 2014, this tale of the French Revolution, a poet (the title role, sung by tenor Piotr Beczala) and blinding love set to a sweeping score was something to look forward to.

Review: ACCUSED! at The Stage Guild
by Peter Rouleau - November 26, 2025
'Accused!' will appeal to mystery buffs and casual fans alike. It is funny, absorbing, and has more than a few parallels to the contemporary political scene.  The production runs just over two hours with an intermission.

What did our critic think of LOUISA MAY ALCOTT'S LITTLE WOMEN at Portland Center Stage? Gunderson's new adaptation: LOUISA MAY ALCOTT'S LITTLE WOMEN, a co-production with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

by R. Scott Reedy - November 26, 2025
What did our critic think of FUN HOME at The Huntington? A funeral home may seem an unlikely setting for a Broadway musical, but it turns out to be an ideal backdrop for the deeply moving “Fun Home.”

Feature: REFLECTIONS ON RUSSIA: GMU CAST MEMBERS ON AN EPIC COLLEGE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE
by Elliot Lanes - November 26, 2025
Every once in awhile you go to see a show not knowing what the final product is going to be. The epic musical Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 was one of those musicals that was very specific to its original staging because of it’s tent location. It was totally immersive. When the show moved to Broadway, it didn’t have the same effect.

Review: DOUGHNUT DRIVE, Drayton Arms Theatre
by Niamh Jones - November 26, 2025
What do grief, crime films and doughnuts have in common? Upon first glance very little; however, in Finella Waddilove’s Doughnut Drive they are thrown together in the most unlikely way to create an undeniably hilarious, if dark, comedy.

Review: AND JULIET at Orpheum Theatre Memphis
by AniKatrina Fageol - November 26, 2025
'For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.' It's a classic tale, one that has been told hundreds of thousands of times and one that theatre kids everywhere know well. But you likely have not seen Romeo and Juliet quite like this. The costumes are vibrant, the choreography is exhilirating, the voices are powerful, and the story... there is quite the twist in the story.
