BIO:
I grew up in a traditional southern town in North Georgia where dreams weren’t socially accepted. Luckily I had a family that encouraged me to impersonate the characters of our town and to sing and speak freely as I desired. My mother and grandmother were responsible for cultivating an environment in which I was able to be creative with my vocal talents. Continuing to be involved in choirs beginning in church and through high school, my passion for singing and vocalizing characters was more than just an idea. There were many nights with my supportive circle of friends where we would put the television on mute so I could narrate with my own voices and my own words
Nervous yet anxious to get started, I packed my car and moved to a bigger land of opportunity. I moved to Atlanta in June of 2005 and haven’t looked back yet. The move provided more creative people to share ideas with and so many creative outlets that have continued to foster my development. There was nothing left for me in my hometown except memories and tons of “material”.
After the first six months of adjusting to the faster pace of life and cultural differences of Atlanta, I met Randy Garcia, a very successful musician, engineer and composer who introduced me to his project called “Nerd Parade”. The band is an eclectic mix of jazz, southern rock and electronic music. We began to mesh our ideas, musical talents and worked countless hours perfecting harmonies adding melodies and developing a strong foundation to form a band. Right out of the gate, the Nerd Parade was very popular with fans and critics alike. Bassist, Rich Wilson and Drummer, Chris Sheldon were added and within three months we were on the road promoting our first album “A Delicate Bashing”. Touring much of the Northeast before coming back down South, we were gone for more than a month playing shows in anything from dive bars, happening clubs, to youth centers. We played 24 shows in 30 days in a completely self-funded tour; many times sleeping at rest stops in the conversion van that I traded my car for before this journey. There were interviews with local music magazines, friends made and a lot of acclaim for the work that was put into this project.
After coming back to real life with the “day job” as a Hair Stylist/Makeup Artist and playing the odd show here and there, we started to work on a second album “The Span of a Life”. This self-produced and Self-recorded album was also well designed and respected among Nerd Parade followers. There was a two and a half week tour throughout the East Coast promoting the album, which culminated on a snowy, winter’s night at the 5 Spot in Atlanta with a CD Release celebration.
Currently, the band is working on a yet-to-be-released album titled “Daylight Savings Time”.
With that in process, I have begun to work on multiple avenues of expressing my vocal abilities. I was approached at the beginning of 2009 with the idea of doing voiceover work. I thought, “You mean, you want me to get paid to do something I’ve naturally been doing since I was old enough to talk? Absolutely, YES!” With the help of some very talented people over the last year, we have produced the reel that you can hear on this site. These characters are really just the tip of the iceberg with regard to the depth and breadth of my talent, yet they really do highlight some of the original “material” that I have gathered all of my life.
