Review: GISELLE at the Baxter Theatre Centre Is an Entrancing and Ethereal Tryst of a Ballet
by Jaime Uranovsky - Nov 20, 2025

I have never been as entranced by a ballet as I was by this breathtaking production of GISELLE. Set in a rustic village surrounded by a dense wood, Michael Mitchell’s set is immensely atmospheric and one feels immediately drawn into its lush depths.

Review: THE MOTHER PLAY: A PLAY IN FIVE EVICTIONS at Studio Theatre
by David Friscic - Nov 19, 2025

The autobiographical world of playwright Paula Vogel comes alive in the illuminating and fragilely evocative “tone poem” of a play entitled The Mother Play at the Studio Theatre. This very moving and occasionally caustic play explores all the hard issues of life in a family—such as death, illness, financial problems and –above all—the dislocation that occurs from constant moving to new locations. (Indeed, the subtitle of the play is “ A Play in Five Evictions”). The Herman family is composed of a very peripatetic mother who has survived the onslaught of a divorce and unwanted children, but she passes so much rage onto her two children, and she drowns herself in martinis.

by Jared Fessler - Nov 19, 2025

The first national tour of The Notebook opened its run at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts with a performance that felt both tender and freshly alive. The familiar love story—spanning youth, adulthood, and the late years of Allie and Noah’s lives—translated beautifully to the Ordway stage, where the audience settled into an evening of heartfelt storytelling and quietly powerful performances.
