Rob McClure

Rob McClure began his professional acting career in Carousel at the Paper Mill Playhouse shortly after graduating high school. He appeared in the Paper Mill Playhouse revival of I'm Not Rappaport and made his Broadway debut when the production transferred to the Booth Theatre in 2002. He later joined the Broadway cast of Avenue Q in 2006 as Nicky and Trekkie Monster, toured nationally as Princeton and Rod beginning in 2007, and returned to Broadway in those roles in 2009.

McClure starred in the title role of Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin at La Jolla Playhouse in 2010, later reprising the role when the musical, retitled Chaplin, opened on Broadway in 2012. His performance earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical in 2013. Additional stage credits include the New York City Center Encores! production of Where's Charley? (2011), Amadeus (2011) at the Walnut Street Theatre, and earlier performances there in The Producers and Oliver!.

In 2013, McClure appeared at The Muny in Shrek the Musical as Lord Farquaad and in Mary Poppins as Bert. He returned to The Muny in 2014 as Gomez in The Addams Family and later starred as The Baker in Into the Woods. He also led the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Honeymoon in Vegas (2013) before reprising the role of Jack Singer in the Broadway production from 2014 to 2015.

McClure returned to Broadway in Noises Off! (2015–2016) and appeared in Ken Ludwig's A Comedy of Tenors (2015–2016) at Cleveland Play House and McCarter Theatre Center. In 2016, he joined the Broadway cast of Something Rotten! as Nick Bottom and continued in the role on the national tour from 2017 to 2018. He also made his solo cabaret debut at Feinstein's/54 Below in 2016 with the show Smile.

In 2018, McClure appeared in Jerome Robbins' Broadway at The Muny and originated the role of Adam in Beetlejuice, the Musical at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. He reprised the role on Broadway in 2019 before creating the title role in Mrs. Doubtfire, which premiered at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in 2019 and opened on Broadway in 2020, returning following the pandemic shutdown for a run from 2021 to 2022.

Other credits include I’m Not Rappaport and Little Shop of Horrors. Regionally, he’s performed at The Muny, Paper Mill, The Old Globe, Arden, Cleveland Play House, A.R.T., Walnut Street, Delaware Theatre Company, Flat Rock, McCarter, Ogunquit, and La Jolla Playhouse. In 2025, McClure played Applegate in Sergio Trujillo's Arena Stage production of Damn Yankees.
