Danielle Ferland is a talented actress who has made a name for herself both on and off Broadway. Born on January 31, 1971 in Westchester County, New York, Ferland began performing at a young age, and quickly developed a passion for the stage.
Ferland's first major role came in 1982, when she was cast as Little Red Riding Hood in the Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods." The show was a critical and commercial success, and Ferland's performance was widely praised for its energy and charm. She went on to reprise the role in the 1987 national tour of the show, and again in the 1991 London production.
In addition to her work in "Into the Woods," Ferland has appeared in a number of other Broadway productions over the years. In 1985, she played the role of Amanda Thripp in the original cast of "Matilda," and in 1998 she starred as Mary Lennox in the musical adaptation of "The Secret Garden." She has also appeared in productions of "Sunday in the Park with George," "A Year with Frog and Toad," and "All My Sons."
Ferland's talents have not been limited to the stage, however. She has also appeared in a number of films and television shows over the years. In 1984, she starred as Dorothy Gale in the made-for-TV movie "The Wizard of Oz," and in 1990 she played the role of Lisa in the film "Hudson Hawk." She has also made guest appearances on shows like "Law & Order," "The Sopranos," and "Rescue Me."
In addition to her work in acting, Ferland is also an accomplished voice actress. She has lent her voice to a number of animated films and television shows over the years, including "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride," and "The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina."
Despite her many accomplishments, Ferland remains humble and dedicated to her craft. In a 2014 interview with BroadwayWorld.com, she spoke about the challenges of working in the entertainment industry, saying, "It's hard work, and it's not always glamorous, but it's something that I love to do. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunities that I've had, and I'm always looking for new challenges."
Ferland's dedication to her craft has earned her a loyal following of fans and admirers over the years. Her performances are often described as heartfelt and genuine, and she has been praised for her ability to bring depth and nuance to even the smallest of roles.
In recent years, Ferland has continued to work in both theater and film. In 2014, she appeared in the off-Broadway production of "Giant" at the Public Theater, and in 2017 she played the role of Mrs. Phelps in the Broadway production of "Matilda." She has also continued to work as a voice actress, most recently lending her voice to the animated series "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle."
