Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT) the not-for-profit 501c3 community theatre located at 49 York Street in downtown Gettysburg, will once again change lives through the joy of musical theatre during their 4th annual Penguin Project (Special Needs Theatre) production. This year's production is Elf the musical performing weekends November 10-19, 2017 and it is almost entirely sold out. The production stars 50 children with and without special needs/disabilities from 10 different school districts performing on stage together. GCT will present their annual Christmas Cabaret on Friday, November 24th with a reception beginning at 7pm and concert starting at 7:30pm. Directed by GCT faculty member and local favorite private voice/piano instructor, Mrs. Carrie Conklin Trax will again direct this year's Christmas Cabaret, Home For The Holidays, featuring students, alumni, and friends. On December 1st for Gettysburg's First Friday, visit GCT to shop at our Holiday Pop Up Boutique with vendors for great holiday shopping 5-8pm and stay for the free Improv Show at 8pm. Gift certificates to GCT for tickets or tuition can also be purchased at this no admission special event. In December, GCT is proud to once again for the 3rd year in a row, partner with Totem Pole Playhouse for their professional production of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol to be performed December 8-17, 2017 at Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater in downtown Gettysburg. Children's Theatre Company (CTC) announces the reprise of audience favorite Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the holidays, a production that has delighted since its world premiere at CTC in 1994. The Grinch was Dr. Seuss's first villain, and it is said that he appeared to the author as he looked in the mirror on December 26, 1956; what he saw in his grumpy countenance was the disdain for the commercialization of the holiday, a very Grinchy image, and that was how the Grinch was born. This piece is both a critique of commercialization and a celebration of community, and has become Dr. Seuss's most enduring piece. (more...)

Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT) the not-for-profit 501c3 community theatre located at 49 York Street in downtown Gettysburg, is ready for the holidays and is hosting a Holiday 'Pop-Up Boutique fundraiser on Friday, December 1st from 5:30-8:00pm to coincide with downtown Gettysburg's First Friday events. For this one evening, GCT will turn into a temporary retail outlet hosting Styled by Amber Stella & Dot Boutique featuring modern jewelry and accessories; comfortable dresses, leggings, and stylish tops from LuLaRoe; meal kits, spices, and mixes from Tastefully Simple; candles, scents, and home d cor from Partylite Candles, and home-made crocheted hats, scarves, and accessories from Green Cat Crochet, as well as GCT gift certificates for tuition, tickets, concessions/gifts. CTC Tours SEEDFOLKS To New York, Nebraska and Greater Minnesota

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) will bring its production of Seedfolks on a three-month tour to eight cities across Minnesota, Omaha (The Rose Theater) and Lincoln (Lied Center for Performing Arts), Nebraska and to The New Victory Theater, New York. The organization received significant tour support from the Minnesota State Arts Board's Arts Tour Minnesota grant to bring Seedfolks to nine theatres across Minnesota including the Memorial Auditorium Performing Arts Center (Worthington), Myles Reif Performing Arts Center (Grand Rapids), Fairmont Opera House (Fairmont), Historic Holmes Theatre (Detroit Lakes), Sheldon Theatre of Performing Arts (Red Wing), Backus Community Center (International Falls), Central Lakes Community Performing Arts Center (Brainerd) and Memorial Auditorium (Dawson) in the spring of 2018. The ninth supported site was Theatre L'Homme Dieu in Alexandria in summer 2017. CTC recently brought this production of Seedfolks to the prestigious ASSITEJ International (International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People) 2017 World Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. Children's Theatre Company (CTC) announced today that their production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the highest grossing show in the organization's 52-year history, playing to 99.8% capacity for 87 performances in the 747-seat theatre. Due to the overwhelming response, CTC has announced ahead of the full 2018-2019 season announcement, that The Grinch will return and be the holiday show for the 2018-2019 season, starring Reed Sigmund in the role of the Grinch for a fourth time. GCT's Founding Executive/Artistic Director Chad-Alan Carr is directing and choreographing and this production marks the 7th time he has done Godspell in his career and the second time at GCT. This being the 10th year of GCT, Carr has selected productions from GCT's history to revive. The last time Godspell was produced at GCT was 2012 right after a successful broadway revival had premiered in NYC.
