Dallas Art Fair Announces Launch Of Permanent Exhibition Space In The Dallas Design District

The Dallas Art Fair has announced the opening of 214 Projects, a 2,500-square-foot permanent exhibition space and cultural venue in the Dallas Design District. The space will open Saturday, March 2, 2019, with Emmanuel Van der Auwera: White Noise, a solo exhibition supported by Belgian gallery Harlan Levey Projects, who has been a Dallas Art Fair exhibitor since 2015.

On March 21, 1953, Langston Hughes, celebrated as the Poet Laureate of Harlem, received a summons to appear before the Senate Permanent Sub Committee on Investigations on Un-American Activities, and went to Washington to be questioned by Joseph McCarthy and the rest of his committee. Playwright Carlyle Brown has used this historical incident to create a lyrical and thought-provoking piece centered around the hours before his appearance, and of the appearance itself, in Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been..., which will begin a 4-week regional premiere run at Stage West today, February 14.

El Centro College Students Display Designs Inspired By Broadway Musical ANASTASIA

The El Centro College Special Topics in Fashion Design and Illustration class is very much like the TV show "Project Runway," with students being tasked to create a project under the mentorship of a professional designer. For this semester's challenge, El Centro College fashion design students collaborated with Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) to create pieces inspired by the hit Broadway musical, ANASTASIA, which is coming to DSM on its first North American tour beginning Feb. 19.
